With Anaconda out of the picture, who will fill the void?

Anaconda had a reputation for selling the most stunning, eye-popping coins on the market, albeit sometimes at wallet-popping prices. Nonetheless, more than most coin dealerships, they had personality, panache, chutzpah, and a real niche in the marketplace, especially in the market for aesthetically-pleasing, toned type coins. Who will fill this void? Will an established dealer step in or will it be a new entrant? Will the ex-employee go out on his own and compete for his old turf, or are there enough dealers out there to quietly absorb the additional business?

I dont think they are going out of business due to lack of business. Mid-life crisis maybe

If that were the case, then why not sell the entire business - lock, stock and barrel? Instead, it appears that their inventory is being auctioned off in a fire sale.
Being a one way market, I suspect that many of their former clients are buried in pretty coins, but just haven't realized it yet.
Either way, I hope someone steps up to fill the void!

I'll agree that guy has outragious prices like they did! I don't see any void. Search some of the better dealers website. Most have eye candy of their own.

As far as filling the void, if everyone here sends me all of their PQ toners, I'll put them up on a website at record prices. That should fill the void.

I'm just trying to figure out what being a teenager only, has to do with chasing tail.

I'll disagree with your basic premise. I think the biggest void in the market occurred when Larry Shepherd took over the ANA job. He was, IMHO, much more of a market maker than Anaconda. Don't get me wrong, Anaconda was good, but I think it was, at best, Shepherd/Simco lite.

<< <i>I love the Anaconda as much as the next person. The real question is who has the access to those coins. Is it Brandon, or the owner of the business? >>
Heritage has the coins but who will get the proceeds? Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned...
Edited to add, salesman, principals, promoters come and go. Nothing so unique about the coins they handled that aren't seen in other dealers inventories or individual collections. I wish Brandon well, hope he get his dough and lands a position elsewhere. The coins? Coins will always be there, just with different caretakers...

I believe that Longacre was asking who has access to replenishing the inventory, once the new owner (presumably the Longacre-RYK Consortium) takes over the business. Will the contacts that Anaconda has made be sold along with the business or do they revert back to Brandon? Same question for client list.

Dunno, but I suspect it will be sold along with the business. I doubt it will revert to Brandon, or be sold in parts (ie. client list contacts etc) as this to me would not be viable. I am assuming one of the parts of the biz you refer to are coins already placed with clients.

Perhaps Porscheahmet can be convinced to expand to coins.

You couldn't stay away!
Boy, just wait till they find out!
That "void" will be difficult to fill completely. Although there are plenty of other dealers out there that rank up there with ARC. And I'm learning about them more and more all the time. Bottom line, this hobby has an enormously strong foundation network and although it's to bad that quality dealers exit the hobby, there are many others out there which greatly softens the blow.

than I paid for it. So I would say I was never buried in their coins. I still own several and I'm sure the same will be true for those
as well. So unless you can speak from first hand knowledge about being buried , your just talkin to talk. Those are just the facts
as I know them to be.

How bout a little logic here guys !!!! Didn't they decide to close shop relatively soon after NGC/PCGS made it clear they were going to start clamping down on all the AT submissions and plunge the offending Dealers down the toilet ????
Yeah, maybe half in jest, but that would also imply half in seriousness. Ahh, I'm just being goofy.
