OT: Transporting Coins

Everyone laughs when I explain this delemma I have. I'm moving from CA to FL for work, I currently do not own a car (havent in 5 years as I use a company vechicle), the company is obviously paying for the movers to come in and pack up my stuff, but I'm not certain I want them moving my coins. I was thinking of getting a safe to have relocated with my stuff, but for some reason I've very uncomfortable about this. I might still do this for the silver coins, but I have some gold/platinum I dont want sitting in storage for 3 months in the Florida heat/humidity
If you didnt plan on driving across country with your coins, what is the next best logical method to relocate them?
I was thinking some small shippments via USPS registered, or slowing bring the collection (atleast the high value) with me on the airplanes (I'm traveling between the two areas right now).
Which route makes the most sense?
