<< <i>Unbelievable! He's doing the EXACT SAME THING that got him ran out of here --- he's cracking coins out of problem holders and selling them at higher, problem-free grades.
My interest in this guy started very innocently. I had heard that he was selling a "doctored" coin which had been cracked out of an ANACS holder. I had simply sent an "ask the seller a question" email asking if he was sure that the coin was legit as it seemed that it had been puttied.
His response was a threatening one stating that if I persisted, I would be "sorry".
I couldn't believe the level of anger as I had thought it possible that he wasn't even aware but after his response I posted a response to one of his posts here (when he was still a member)
I received a great deal of info via PMs from members here who are very knowledgable in seated material.
That was about 10 months ago and I heard nothing since then.

He's a scammer. He has no true remorse. He attacked people when confronted.
I don't care if he is 14, 24, 34, or 104. He does not deserve any more chances, imho. He is nothing but a scam artist. Any dealer who wants to "pardon" him, is just allowing a dealer stereotype to exist (notice the posters who asked what makes what he is doing different than other dealers?)
Any collector who wants to "pardon" him is just setting folks up to be taken again...newbies. I am sure they will appreciate your help in getting him back so they get taken, if he were to come back.
I am more of a blackheart. Everyone deserves a chance. Everyone deserves a 2nd chance. Most don't deserve mulitiple chances when they spit on others and rip them all off. I don't think someone like this is good for the hobby. I think there are others that are just as good or better and this one is a big blight on the hobby.

Precisely! And you sure like to play by those rules, don't you? The next time I haggle with you, or any other dealer for that matter, over a coin grade, I'll post the coin on this board, your name, and solicit members opinions on your grading.
While I think Schmuck is a scumbag, the hypocrisy on these boards is amazing. Half of the dealers that post on this board should probably be run off just Mr. Schmuck here.

Regarding this thread, someone asked me to say something positive. The best that I can come up with is that he at least has decent images that show the problems. In other words, he is not being deceptive by using Photoshop or whatever. The 1870 quarter is scrubbed and that is clear in the images. As such, I doubt anyone would be fooled. At least I hope that they wouldn't.

As a novice numismatist, I would be fooled quite easily. That's why I only buy PCGS, NGC, and ANACS graded coins.
While I find nothing morally wrong with cracking a coin out, I would think re-selling it as a problem free coin is fraudulent , if not unethical. Grading is subjective. Lying is deliberate. Hiding the truth is deception. PERIOD
It's a dirty game and some can't play any other way.
The only reason he wants back on the website is for free advertising for his website and to sucker some more newbs, I'd wager much less than half my paycheck though.
What did Schmuck hide? He said the 1870 quarter was cleaned and scratched. If grading is only an opinion, then he did nothing that the typical coin dealer wouldn't do. I don't support what he's done here and in the past. My point is that many coin dealers do this all the time, yet look at them lining up now to throw one guy who got exposed for it off the boards.

You are right, it does happen with other dealers. BTW, he never said that the 1870 was cleaned......just scratched. And it went from AU (NCS) to MS60. He had to say it was scratched since the scratches are so obvious. The other thing that he did was to quickly edit his site after he read this thread. Within minutes he changed the MS60 Scratched to XF45 Cleaned and Scratched. But perhaps what bothers most people is the letter he wrote to the OP, which stated that he had turned over a new leaf and was going to start being an ethical dealer.
Here is 2 PMs sent to me by LoMintage for my WTB on BST (his name was mentioned in the above tread) I would like to make that more clear, Alistar Skinner knew nothing about this until I called him and was no way involved LoMintage used Alistar Skinner ebay auction pictures without Alistar Skinner knowing.

Hi,
I have a very scarce 1837 B-4 quarter in VF-25. It is a late die state, with a strong die crack running through the obverse, and a bold die crack on the reverse. It is a choice original piece, and as beautiful as an original bust quarter can get.
I'll send you another PM with the photos.
You get a 7 day return policy on all purchases, with free shipping.
Thanks!

Here are the photos of the 1837 B-4.
I'm asking $210 for it, including shipping/insurance.
I called the ebay seller who I had just recently made him an offer on a another bust quarter, Alistar Skinner said he still owned the coin and he did not know LoMintage .
