Just my opinion.

The more qualities observed in a coin, the more desirable that coin becomes!
My Jefferson Nickel Collection
<< <i>Coin for coin, do you think that's a fair trade? The 43-P is not as easy as locating a 43-D. The quality of the 43-D needs to be of much better quality than what you might receive in a 43-P. I note this since I have several 43-D nickels and very few 43-P's. And your 43-D has something on the cheek that would keep you from a decent 43-P.
Just my opinion.

As for it being a fair trade, yes, I think it's about right. You may not have a lot of 43-Ps in your collection, but I'm not certain what that has to do with me. The prices are roughly comparable - in fact, according to the five previous sales I've located at Heritage, the average price of the P-mint coins ($18.20) is less than the average of the D-mint coins ($19.00). Even so, I'm still offering to throw in a little money to make it worth my trading partner's time.

As for whatever it is you're seeing on the cheek, I think that this coin is just fine for the grade. It isn't a 66; it's a nice MS65FS. I don't see any problems with the cheek, especially when you consider the coin is blown up a gazillion times normal size. I'm looking for a somewhat different surface profile on the coin I want to trade for because I'm trying to match a 1943-P date/mint set I'm putting together. I've seen quite a number of 43-P MS65FS coins for sale which I've passed on because I'm looking for that particular white coin, not one with toning. There are plenty of coins out there - I'm just looking to find a particular look.
