If someone has the right coin and isn't interested in a trade, I might be willing to purchase it outright and just sell off my current coin. I'd prefer to trade, however. Just PM me if you've got what I'm looking for and we can make some sort of deal. I'd rather deal with someone here with decent pics than play the crapshoot that is eBay.

Coin for coin, do you think that's a fair trade? The 43-P is not as easy as locating a 43-D. The quality of the 43-D needs to be of much better quality than what you might receive in a 43-P. I note this since I have several 43-D nickels and very few 43-P's. And your 43-D has something on the cheek that would keep you from a decent 43-P.

    Just my opinion.

The more qualities observed in a coin, the more desirable that coin becomes!

As for it being a fair trade, yes, I think it's about right. You may not have a lot of 43-Ps in your collection, but I'm not certain what that has to do with me. The prices are roughly comparable - in fact, according to the five previous sales I've located at Heritage, the average price of the P-mint coins ($18.20) is less than the average of the D-mint coins ($19.00). Even so, I'm still offering to throw in a little money to make it worth my trading partner's time.

Previous prices on 1943-P PCGS MS65FS from Heritage:*

    Auction 67092, Lot 23059 Sunday, September 9, 2007 65 PCGS $29.00
    Auction 67091, Lot 24076 Sunday, September 2, 2007 65 PCGS $15.00
    Auction 27084, Lot 11115 Tuesday, August 28, 2007 65 PCGS $19.00
    Auction 67084, Lot 23145 Sunday, August 26, 2007 65 PCGS $15.00

Previous prices on 1943-D PCGS MS65FS from Heritage:*
    Auction 67104, Lot 24053 Sunday, October 28, 2007 65 PCGS $19.00
    Auction 27104, Lot 11114 Tuesday, October 23, 2007 65 PCGS $16.00
    Auction 67103, Lot 23193 Sunday, October 21, 2007 65 PCGS $18.00
    Auction 27103, Lot 13126 Tuesday, October 16, 2007 65 PCGS $24.00
    Auction 67102, Lot 24161 Sunday, October 14, 2007 65 PCGS $18.00

    *Prices minus "juice".

As for whatever it is you're seeing on the cheek, I think that this coin is just fine for the grade. It isn't a 66; it's a nice MS65FS. I don't see any problems with the cheek, especially when you consider the coin is blown up a gazillion times normal size. I'm looking for a somewhat different surface profile on the coin I want to trade for because I'm trying to match a 1943-P date/mint set I'm putting together. I've seen quite a number of 43-P MS65FS coins for sale which I've passed on because I'm looking for that particular white coin, not one with toning. There are plenty of coins out there - I'm just looking to find a particular look.
