JULY 7-The Microsoft Live 25% off up to $250 back is LIVE AGAIN!

This was 35% and then dropped to 10% but it is now back up to 25% cashback up to a $250 rebate in 60 days. I used it at 35% and my cashback is pending with a countdown so it apparently works.

HERE IS THE THREAD WITH ALL THE INFO

You can also stack the eBay 10% off coupon, if you got one, for up to another $100 off. On top of that if you are earning eBay Cashback you can get that also.

Just used it on a Michael Jordan UDA baseball and got about $57.00. Plus, if you have ebay bucks, they are now doubling your ebay bucks reward (for 10 days only) so I'm getting another $28,99 or so from that.

I got to use my 10% ebay coupon earlier this week on a set of 4 18 inch tires as well as earned ebay bucks on them so ebay is being kind this week. Just wish I had known about this Microsoft deal before I bought the tires as well.

They are really throwing out some good incentives lately. If it hadn't been for the 20% off and double ebay bucks, I wouldn't have bought the ball, but by the time all that is applied (after 60 days for the Microsoft deal), I'll have a Jordan UDA signed baseball for about $210.00 delivered. I couldn't pass it up. image

I just assumed it was system wide but not certain. The period they gave me was June 20-June 29. My ebay bucks is usually 5 percent but for that period, it is 10 percent.

May not be system wide though because I thought I saw where some people were earning as low as 2% and as high as 15% back with the regular ebay promotion. It figures though that they started the ebay bucks AFTER I got most of my signed rookie cards. Oh well, no complaints about it though from me because most of the stuff I'm buying, I'd be buying anyway with the exception of the Jordan UDA baseball, so it's found money.

    << <i>I am getting 3% >>

I wonder what criteria they used to determine what people were eligible for. I wonder if they used average purchases for a set period of time or something, and gave higher bucks to people that typically purchased less and lower bucks for people that typically purchase a lot anyway.

I probably spend about $1000 = $1500 a month on ebay and they gave me 5%. Is your purchase level a lot higher? (not asking to be nosy, just trying to figure out if they used any sort of logic behind it or if it was random assigned)

Yeah mine is probably a little higher than that, but I bought a $1700 card right before they started doing ebay bucks so maybe that got me bumped down?

Thanks Allen, just picked up a nice high # 52 with 20% off plus my ebay 10%. I tried it again and it's letting me do it, how many times will it allow?
  • AllenAllen Posts: 7,165 ✭✭✭
I think the first item you buy in a seesion (1hr after clicking the link to 20% off) you no longer get the discount. It shows that you get the discount on other items, but it is only the first. If you log out and go back to the link (not sure if you have to wait an hour or not) you can use it again- up to 3 times total. It says it will tell you on the discount page that you have used the maximum amount. I have used it twice now.

So I have created a Live account, but the link won't let me in to "Your cashback account". I keep getting page cannot be displayed. How am I to make sure my purchase from the other night is going through? Or tell them my Paypal account?

Has everyone else been able to create and access their accounts yet?
    Looking for Carl Willey items.

I have not had any trouble with getting into my account. My first purchase showed my pending cashback within a few hours, but my second one has not shown up after about 11 hours. Some peoples has taken several days though.

When I go into "my messages" and click on the "get cash back" button, all I get is an error message stating that there is a problem loading the page.
  • AllenAllen Posts: 7,165 ✭✭✭
Try going to THIS and clicking on "sign in" at the top right corner. It should take you to your account and show you your pending funds. I just got an email a minute ago that my $250 refund from last night just went through. I have not got that email in my ebay messages, but the pending funds is posted in my Live account so that is all that really matters.

Bought a neck for a guitar last night and it worked great - 20%. The pending $100 showed up in my account this morning.

Pair it with the Ebay 10% coupon (code CJUNE0810P until June 30) and save a bundle.

$150 for me off of a $500 item.

Nick, i did this offer twice last night and got the same message about errors. Finally got through later but my cashback didn't post until this morning. I just bought another card this morning and got $150 back but it has not posted yet. Wish i would have gotten in on the 35% offer.

Did not work for me because when I signed in and clicked on "cash back" in the upper right corner, then on that page I clicked on "your cash back account", I still get the "problem loading page" message.

Are you a Time Warner / Road Runner customer? If so, try this (I had the same problem you're having, but this fixed it)

Get CashBack not connecting to live.com

If you're a TWC/RR customer and you're unable to access the Get Cash Back button in My Message to create your account, do this:

    1) Go to http://ww23.rr.com/prefs.php

    2) Select disable redirection (this is the first option - web address redirection service).

eBayer slaps $714 price tag on $630 in cash Will Microsoft pay the difference?

By Cade Metz in San Francisco

    Published Thursday 19th June 2008 18:53 GMT
    Updated Saturday 21st June 2008 17:05 GMT

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In an attempt to game Microsoft's new Live Search Cashback program, an eBayer has put a $714 price tag on $630 in cash.

    Pay cash for cash

That's right, $630 in cash can be yours for $714. But if you access the page through a Live Search ad link that returns 35 per cent of the purchase price, you can make up the difference. And then some. So you make a profit, and so does the seller. At the expense of Microsoft and eBay.

That's the theory, anyway. It's unclear whether this actually works, and neither Microsoft nor eBay has responded to requests for comment.

Last month, in a desperate effort to shrink the Google gap, Microsoft began bribing people to use its third rate search engine. If you use Live Search ads to find and purchase certain items, Microsoft will return a portion of the purchase price. In some cases, this amounts to a 35 per cent savings.

The payments come straight from Microsoft's product-selling advertisers. So, if a partner like eBay posts an advertisement, the ad fee provides that cash back refund.

Well, in recent days, message board mavens at FatWallet.com have noticed a potential loophole in this setup. If an eBay listing offers cash, they say, both the seller and the buyer can make some extra dough. But it must be a "Buy Now" purchase - and payment must be made through PayPal.

At the very least, there's a cap on that extra dough. Microsoft limits cash back rewards to $250. That's why our swashbuckling eBay choose $714 as a purchase price. But some posters are claiming a 35 per cent return is no longer available on eBay listings. The norm now seems to be 10 per cent on eBay buys.

If this does work - the eBayer hasn't responded to us either - we're sure it won't work for long. The bigger question is how long Ballmer can afford cash back refunds on all those other sales. ®

I noticed it was up to 25% also, so I bought a case of 2008 Allen & Ginter from Blowout. I'm getting $241.25 back from Microsoft, plus it let me use my 10% off coupon from ebay for another $96.50 off. I think I got a deal, as long as it's not a hassle getting my money from Microsoft in 60 days.

I just got $250 back from MSFT (in 60 days that is) on a 57 PSA 9 Clemente. However, I haven't paid yet. How do I get the 10% off eBay coupon? Been on ebay a long time but didn't know about this. Want to apply this at checkout hopefully.

I received an email from ebay last week with a redemption code to get 10% off my next purchase, I don't know why. One time use, up to $100 off, expires the 30th.

    banker-

having worked at MSFT for a number of years myself, I can tell you that this is most likely completely legit. Basically, MSN Search is a third-rate search engine and now they're trying to get you to switch by rebating a portion of your purchase (or conversion) generated through their search engine. You need to click through the ad with the x% showing to get that amount (capped at $250). Looks like you can have three different sessions where you could use this. So, up to $750 rebates. It takes 60 days to get it back--I guess that's the catch if any. You also have to sign up on live search (get a user name/password) where you can track the processing of the rebate and make sure you get it.

Is the 10% coupon code CJUNE0810P? (I found this via Google--not MSN--by the way).

yes, that's the one they sent to me.
  • tennesseebankertennesseebanker Posts: 5,434 ✭✭✭
How much or how often do I have to use this new search engine if at all ? Where does it let you enter the code for the rebate ?
    image

  • Does it change several times a day? I was about to pull the trigger on a card I liked, and I'm like, hey, 10% only?

there's no requirement that you use use it afterwards. But, to claim the rebate, you have to click through the ad on MSN search that has the "live search rebate" logo with the x% off when using paypal verbiage (sometimes it's 10%, 15%, 20%, 25% depending on the search term you've entered). If you use search terms like "baseball card," ebay will have an add with this logo. the x% rotates constantly.

You don't enter a promo code. You click through, make the purchase, and the offer will follow you on the ebay page. When you buy it now, it will say that you've qualified for $x rebate from MSFT. You have to pay via paypal within 30 days and then you get the rebate within 60 days of payment. The coupon from ebay requires entering a promo code.

Think of this as a "discover card" of search engines. The more you use, the more rebates you get. It's designed to hook people on using their search engine. Of course, $750 seems to be the limit for now.

It changes constantly. Try different terms to find the 25%. "Collectibles," "Used electronics," etc. I think that as long as you click through the ebay ad off MSN search to eBay, you'll land on ebay where the results are constrained to only BIN items. Then, just change the search to your item and buy. But, I'm not 100% sure on clicking through an ad generated from the term "used electronics" and then buying a baseball card. It should still work because they simply want you to convert on eBay and it's less important on which category you convert. But, to be safe, you might want to use search terms "baseball card" and "baseball cards" hit refresh a few times, check back a few times until you find the mother lode (25% off is the best one I've seen). Of course, if it's a high ticket item, you won't need 25% off. I maxed out at $250 with only 15% because I bought an expensive item.

ok, i have signed up. I tried putting the name of the card I wanted to buy in the search, but nothing even close came up.
also, can you use this if you make a best offer for an item ??
    image

  • thunderdanthunderdan Posts: 3,036 ✭✭✭
just enter generic search terms. ebay doesn't buy such specific keywords such as "PSA 9 Johnny Bench 1968 Topps" or whatever. However, they most definitely buy search terms like "rookie baseball cards" "baseball cards" "antiques" "collectibles", etc. Hundreds of thousands of them. Almost all have this live search associated with the ebay ad. The trick is to find one that will maxmize your rebate. Then, you must complete the purchase within 60 minutes. It has to be buy it now. Making a best offer and then purchasing won't work. So, if there's a best offer, just agree with the seller the buy it now and have them remove best offer of just use the buy it now on the current price if it's to your liking.

I plan on using it twice more and getting a $750 check from the boys in Redmond. Lord knows they have mountains of marketing cash to burn.

Type in something you know will take you to eBay through them, and the search eBay from within the page it took you to. You will still be covered as long as the Microsoft live logo with the 15% off on it is at the top of the eBay page.

Would it be unethical to ask a seller to list a BIN for $700, and then ship multiple items. In essence he would be selling a $700 gift card. There is a seller that has multiple items i would like to buy but they are all in the $20-$40 range.
