Just got my report card

this hurts my feelings
NM-MT 8: Near Mint-Mint.
A PSA NM-MT 8 is a super high-end card that appears Mint 9 at first glance, but upon closer inspection, the card can exhibit the following: a very slight wax stain on reverse, slightest fraying at one or two corners, a minor printing imperfection, and/or slightly off-white borders. Centering must be approximately 65/35 to 70/30 or better on the front and 90/10 or better on the reverse.

Mine's the 7, the 8's from one of the sets ahead of me.
Guys please help me work through this, I've got 30 cards better than the Aaron but nothing graded better than an 8. I'm trying to understand...I'm not really saying anything, but I'm just saying

Tough to say yours is 8 worthy from the scan...although it's fairly easy (IMO anyway) to say the 8 is probably overgraded.
My eBay Store
BigCrumbs! I made over $250 last year!
and yours looks higher then a 7 without question...
very clean looking card
I hate those embossed cards.. so ugly..
crack out and send back on a bulk sub.... don't spend $15 more on that card
or just worry about a better card to focus on

resubmit the Mantle 7s too?
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.
<< <i>From the numbers given on your flips, it looks like you submitted all at one time and just pulled a grader having a "baaaad day". You probably could re-submit those for review and have a few bumped or crack and submit for better grades maybe. If you feel your cards are better than the grades given, then persistence will usually be rewarded. >>
Thanks ncdolefan--but how do you "crack" a capsule? I'm afraid I might end up damaging the card.
<< <i>The surface on yours look better by the scans.....but the comparison scans clearly show more detail. Your photos are slightly out of focus....compare the letters. >>
Thanks MG--I see what you mean. Could be pilot error! I may try to retake some of the images and tighten the focus. What made me hopeful about these cards--with the exception of Shaw (worse card in the set) there are hardly any scuffs or blemishes. They were all shipped (originally) together (I ordered them out of Sporting News ad by Topps I think) and never were in gum packs, so no powdered sugar etc. I may need better lighting too--but several--like this Brooks Robinson card I thought had legitimate chance to go mint. But out of 72--not one 9--and they were grading some 9s (maybe as many as 20 or so) when mine were in house because I was watching the pop report.

Get a flat head screwdriver and a hammer. Fit the screwdriver into the groove between the two pieces of plastic on any side of the holder and lightly hammer it down. Do this in as many places as necessary until you can pry it open. As long as you do it gingerly and cautiously, you won't damage the card.
Hope that helps.
