A lot of these came out with the independence of eastern Europe and they are still very available with some collecting by date. I don't think any are especially rare but am not a specialist.
edited to add: after staring at this a bit more, I think I see the date 1626 at the upper left edge of the larger pic. The "GA" on the obverse refers to the Swedish king Gustavus Adolphus who was actively campaigning in the region during the 1620s. The 1626 would be a fairly early date for this series. A similar type is listed under Poland for Ebling but I don't see the GA coins for Riga.
its truely amazing how some of you can ID so quickly. I think I go back and forth between my 2 krausse books daily.
Is the coin something to hold on to or not really.

Don;t know your interests, but this isn't going to finance that vacation home anytime soon. I think the price might be a little higher than shown in my old Krause, but a lot of these have been floating around the market for years and there's still plenty around, some in quite nice condition.
its truely amazing how some of you can ID so quickly. If you're an info hamster long enough sometimes your vast, arcane and otherwise useless knowledge comes in handy. Also, I've collected Latvian currency "forever" and have a very good friend in Latvia that does coins as well. Something was bound to stick!
