<< <i>The problem with declaring this a shilled auction is that I'm sure, beyond any reasonable doubt, that Joe knew this card would sell for far more than 1K. It would be like shilling a PSA 9 1994 SP A-Rod up to $155.00 or something, and then stopping. What's the point? It's going to get to $155 anyway, and all you're doing is taking the risk that you'll alienate a potential bidder that's suspicious of the bidding pattern. >>

No reserve with starting bid of $4.95

This was not a shilled auction.

I know it is Rose and I know it was an OPC but IMO this thread should be about how that card can fetch 3k!

I respect yours too, but I still don't see any proof of shilling.

I see a bidding pattern that could be seen as shilling among
other scenarios. One of which I spelled out earlier.

Just because someone bids in increments does not prove shilling.

Now if you could connect the bidder to the seller then and only then could you
    IMO prove shilling.

For all we know the bidder in question knew who the other bidder was and ran him up.
That they both always go for the same cards and know when one is the bidder.

I have bid in increments like that before to reveal the high bidders max price before coming in for the kill at the end of the auction. It is a valid strategy and should not be considered a shill unless it is your own item!

Once the last 2 bidders entered the fray this card was going to go to 3K regardless of if there was a shill bidder or not. PERIOD. I don't care if the item is at one penny with 5 seconds left if 2 bidders jump in with a snipe and both bid 3000 and 3001. The card is going to reach 3000 dollars. The "shill" did nothing to effect this ultimate outcome on this auction. Is shill bidding wrong.. YES..

I just get sick of everytime something looks funny on Ebay the same people cry that it is a fraud. People bid like that all the time. I had an item end last night that had 6 bids on it but only one bidder. It sold at the starting price, but that means he changed his maximum bid 6 times.

Without proof nobody should cry shill. I have seen very few shill bidders with over 100 FB most have less than 20. He more than likely would have popped up again around the 2000 dollar mark if he thought it would go to 3000.

I do not recall ever mentioning a shill bidder on these forums before in my time here, but when someone brings it to the forefront with a thread like this one, if I agree I will say it. Whoever wants to keep their head buried in the sand in regards to this, that's fine by me. As a matter of fact, I now agree with all of you that it was not shilling at all. Have a good evening.
