**I Have Returned, Winner Announced **I Sold Off My Typeset. Time to Give Away the Album.

I have returned from my long road trip to Key West and back.
My total round trip mileage was 3,171 miles.
According to the in car trip computer I averaged about 23.0 mpg.
After adding up my gas amount totals it cost me $ 566.98 in gas.
Winner is Bigmansam who had a guess of $571.07 with a difference of $4.09.




After selling off my typeset I have an empty laying around and I'd like to give it away. This contest will be open to everyone.

At around 2am Saturday morning I will be departing Chicago by car for Key West and returning the following Saturday. The challenge is to guess how much gas will cost me on this trip (Both ways). Ill save my receipts and tally them up when I get back.

I drive a 2006 Nissan Murano S AWD with a 21.5 gallon tank and use premium gas. I will be leaving with a full tank and it will not be included in the guesses.
Person with the closest guess to actual cost will win the album.

Deadline for guesses will be 8pm cst on Saturday June 21st.

    Ok....based on a few assumptions (that you will fill it up prior to returning the last bit as well and that it doesn't include other driving around in Key West and that you don't have a lead foot image ) I will guess $554.40

    I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

    $793.23, I just drove my 07 explorer to Miami southbeach area from the south burb of Chicago. I was shocked at the cost of gas. This is why I fly everywhere. Took the 11 YO and 8 YO and they were great, much better than my sister and I did 30 years ago with our parents. Have fun and stop at a lot of caves. The only thing I suggest is taking 3 days for the trip, my mistake was I did it in 2, but still stopped at all the tourist traps, it meant for some long nights driving. It will seam as though Georgia and Florida never stop, they are some long a$$ states. BTW I don't need the book if I win, give it second closest.

    I dont fly, if it can be reached by car im driving. Plus airfare round trip for 2 w/ a rental car wouldve been nearly double what i think gas is going to cost me.

    In my hometown gasoline currently sells at $10.00-$10.70 per gallon and a bit higher for diesel.

    My guess is $630.85 assuming that you drive like me (fast) and fill up at average gas stations (not Costco's, not Chevrons).

    It should take you about 7 fill-ups and you'll probably have about 1/2 of a tank left when you get home. image


    I found it interesting that you pay less for your premium fuel over there than I pay for regular over here (in CA). I filled up at Costco the other day for $4.40 a gallon for regular! The average prices that I found in your area were about $4.15 for premium.
