Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

In this case it was easier to pay this price because Perez is one of my favorites. But I probably would've bought it anyway.

Ron does pick up some sweet raw cards doesn't he?? Great pick ups Ron, but I do have a question: what the hell is Ray Blades doing in the "action" shot of himself? Is he playing a flute? Cleaning out the rain gutters? Stabbing himself with a pitchfork?
Any ideas?

There are plenty of decent raw cards out there that would grade in the 6-8 range, especially commons that only set-builders want. Most people, however, can't be bothered to look for them. I looked through several hundred cards (took a good 2 hours) and found only 20-25 cards that I deemed good enough for my sets.
You also can have some luck buying mixed-condition group lots on Ebay. I recently bought a lot of 60 1956 Topps FB cards for about $3 a card. Many of the cards were beaters, but I also found several cards that would probably be 8's were I to get them graded. Overall, about a half the cards were EX-MT or better, which has helped my set along nicely.
It's really just a matter of doing the legwork.

Good thing we all don't think like that.

I keep saying this as well and I still don't believe it.
hey Ron, great finds!! I am going to scan up a few of mine for your viewing pleasure from my recent Las Vegas trip this week.. We'll see how the first scan turns out.
Need to clean my scanner as the first card looks dingy.. These are way better looking than the first scan..
Here was the group photo
Just picked up 14 Near Mint 1956 Topps FB commons on Ebay for just under $100, or about $7 a card.
Good stuff is out there if you take the time to look!
I need that Perez for my set!
How many little old ladies to you sweet talk into selling their collections to you for a crisp $5 bill and a lil' sugah?
