Can anyone recommend a good Postal scale?

There are too many types and brands to pick from...I need something to reliably weigh coin packages with weights always under a pound. Does anyone have a brand/model...a good, reliable scale for lightweight items?

    Paul,

I use a Pitney Bowes G799 (I think that is the model) 5lb scale.
I've never used it for over 2 pounds, but the base is a nice size. Not too small, not too large.

Never had a problem with it and anything I have weighed to have mailed while using it.

I bought it from Office Depot about 2 years ago. Was under $30 or so, I think.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

I picked up a generic digital 11lb scale at Office Depot for around $40.

It works great for those under a pound shipments but can also handle the larger weights. Anything more than 11lbs goes in a Flat Rate box anyway.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

I ordered my scales from www.rightonscales.com and had no problems. I can't give a recommendation for postal scales specifically though.

I bought one of the cheapest ones I could find on ebay (from a reputable seller) in the weight range and accuracy I wanted and it's worked great for 1000s of packages and even works fine for some moderate overrange work. The technology in these scales is pretty reliable nowdays. This isn't something you need to focus on finding the one brand that will provide the most reliability. --Jerry

I bought a "pelouze" model SP5 electronic postal scale at either Office Depot or OfficeMax a couple years ago for around $30.00 and have never have any problems since. It runs on a 9 volt battery, weighs in .1 oz./1 g. increments up to 5 lbs., and has an easy to read, large digital display.

(I feel like I should now say, "But wait. There's more. If you call in and order one in the next 15 min.", blah, blah, blah.) No, I don't work for them. image
I never thought that growing old would happen so fast.

I say one at the post office day before yesterday. I think it was under thirty dollars. I would think they would carry something that worked.

Best prices I have found, and always look for their specials.
