this is probably my favorite coin at the moment..found it in a roll and its just cool looking.. only a shot of the obverse..reverse is completely normal

if what you say about elvis is true would that not account for the frenzied bidding and not the possible error? I say possible because i do not have the coin in hand and it looks like a scratch to me...
I honestly don't know which of the factors brought in the value, it was purchased by an educated collector though. Your guess is as good as mine. I'm not an error specialist, there was just a good story behind the coin.
