What year did ANACS stop using the old small holders?

  • I think it was pretty recently - maybe 2005 or 2006?

Couldn't you still get them until very recently? Like when they just changed hands. Special order I think.

The small holders have still been in use recently for problem coins only. These holders were reserved for problem coins, but regular submissions without problems were placed in the new clear plastic slabs. The problem coins in the newest small holders have a light blue ANACS logo on white background behind the printing (i.e. grade and series listing) to distinguish them.

i agree with the basic premise that these holders were used right up
until recently for no problem coins. longer for coins with problems.

you had to request them at the end. i do not know if they are still
    being used today...

me? i always liked them more then ngc but less then pcgs.

Anacs now uses the same holder for both problem and normal coins. The slab is not of very good quality and needs a lot of work.

The old white slab is virtually indestructable and was great! The new one can be broken into without much hassle...see my post from before.

The small white holder changed slightly over the years. When the New Day At ANACS happened a few years back, they retained the white holder for problem coins and abandoned net grading nearly simultaneously if I recall. In the last big holder before James Taylor rode into town (the grooved edge one), they dropped the small white one altogether.

I'm trying to figure out what to do with those original New Day format storage boxes. No other slabs but those gen 1 ones fit in them.
