Pack sifting

Just wondering if it is real.....can people sort through loose packs and identify those that have auto's and jersey cards? If so, how do they do it?

Just pick up the pack and shake it back forth at a 35degree angle. Gently chant "nanananananan" "be the ball...be the ballllll"

A flute without holes, is not a flute. A donut without a hole, is a danish.

Oh, billy, billy, billy......Had to respond to the Caddyshack reference. Just a great sports movie!
  • So I guess the answer is NO, there is no way to sift through packs. Thanks for the feedback guys.
  • There is a way to do it on specific brands and I hate to admit that I used to be one of the a$$holes at Walmart doing it years ago. If you havent read this story from me before...here goes. First, let me say I have a 9 yr old son. I was at Walmart one day about 6 years ago searching like a thief. A kid about the age my son is now, walked up with his dad to buy a few packs. The little boy told his dad he just wanted to pull 1 GU'd card. Unfortunately for him, I had already searched the packs he was going to buy and had actually found 2 packs that I was fairly certain had GU'd/auto cards in them. The boy asked his dad if he could borrow $2 so he could get 3 packs instead of 2. Apperantly he was using his weekly allowance money to buy 2 packs because his dad told him he gave him his last $5 for his allowance. The look on this boys face broke my heart. I felt so bad that I bought the 2 packs I had plus a box of Bowman and stood at the front door waiting on the boy and his dad to come out. When they came out, I gave him the packs and the box that I had just bought and never searched packs again.

So, yes, I admit that I have done it before but I feel as if my one random act of kindness gave me some sort of moral redemption. Pack searchers do not hurt adults who buy the packs. They hurt the kids that this hobby was originally targeted for.

I see kids and adults doing it everytime I go to WMT and TGT.

FAR too embarrassing for me to participate.

I never buy packs from an opened box.

Our local Wal-Mart hardly even sells packs anymore. Just boxes. The packs they are selling are those Topps and Upper Deck double
pack ones you can see in. There was one set a long time ago, some Topps Gold if I remember right, the game used cards were
very thick and you could not even try to bend the packs, but the packs with just regular cards would give a little. But as to just pick
up a pack of cards and know if there is one, nope.

Ty Webb: He was night putting...just putting a night....with the 15 year old daughter of the dean. You know who that guy was?
    Danny Noonan: Bob Hope?
Ty Webb: No, Mitch Kumstein, my roommate.

OK - I don't usually share this with the general public.

Since you're a close friend DES - I'm gonna reveal a trade secret.
