Baltimore Coin Show June 5-8th...

LeeBoneLeeBone Posts: 4,895 ✭✭✭✭✭
I`ll be there on Sat June 7th pretty much all day.
But from my expierience from the last couple of shows there, I will probably come away empty-handed and pockets filled with cash still.
It seems that the dealers are charging way too much for their "PQ+++" coins and are not willing to bend too far from their asking price. Anybody else noticed this in the last few shows in Baltimore...or anywhere else?

    Where have you been?

The coin market has been "hot" for about ten years now and prices for nicer material and popular series have been strong for years.

Check out the Southern Gold Society

I have been following, and I know it`s a hot market, but I never had too much trouble "working" a deal out with any of the dealers at Baltimore until about 1 year ago.

I think it depends on the coin, and the dealer.

I'll be there with a table. My first Baltimore show! Stop by and see our custom holders at booth 1156.

Having attended less than twelve coin shows in my life (and a major show, the Balmer one, only two times), I feel privileged to still be awed by the entire spectacle of these modern-day bazaars. When I step into the convention room, the rows and rows of tables, the bustling crowds of people and the glaring lights from above all make for quite the sensory bombardment. There is a palpable yet indescribable feeling of excitement in the atmosphere. Usually, I find myself swallowing hard and taking a few deep breaths before I step forward. Having related my experience, several more experienced collectors have told me that it is easy to get 'burned-out'/disenchanted from going to coin shows too often. I'm glad to still be at the 'give me more more more' stage (somewhat akin to the proverbial kid in the candy store (actually for me, the 'candy store' was the library because I loved getting booksimage)

The only way you will see me on Saturday is if you are at the WW-II Weekend Airshow in Reading, PA.
Besides, the last 2 summer shows kinda sucked. I'm saving my lunch money for the ANA.
