Don't panic, the two of them will pop in to leave there comments!! Just in case you can't wait, I will say it for them.... "Did you send Allen his Ted Williams pack yet?" " Your collection manager should be able to tell you which cards sell good in $1 boxes"

The "real" good old days for $1 boxes? Early 1970's flea markets when sellers had $1 boxes filled with T-206's & some T205's

Mocking you has lost its thrill for me. It was fun once, but you haven't posted anything stupid in a while so the novelty has worn off.

Allen, I've been waiting a year for you to give me your address, but you never did. I couldn't wait anymore so I ended up opening the pack. This is one of the cards that was in the pack, but it's obvious that it would have no chance of grading a 10, so I wanted to see if you thought I should just throw it in the dollar box.

You lost the bet Dec. 27th 2007 so unless your crazy little world has a time warp it has not been a year. I can give you my address if you want to be a man and pay your debt. Make sure your collection manager puts delivery confirmation on the package.

    skilow- who are you again?

Whats the difference, 1 week, 5 months or 1 year?? You said that you would send me your address by Thursday December 27, 2007 7:25 AM. It is know May 14th 2008 and I still don't have your address. I don't remember saying that I would mail the pack anyway.

<< <i>Thursday December 27, 2007 7:22 AM I will take that bet. You have three minutes starting now. Prove it to me that it is real. If you think it is real and it makes you happy then that is cool. I did not mean to pee in your corn flakes, you have some nice items there. I guess I should follow the "if you don't have anything nice to say...." rule. I will PM you my address for the Ted Williams pack in three minutes. Thanks. >>

My dollar box best sellers are Wrasslin Reds Nascar in that order I have a mix of HOFers and modern stuff and the other stuff I box it up in 200 count boxes and give a box away with a 5 dollar or more purchase - a great way to get rid of low ball stuff and commons. A top loader with sleeve costs me a dime each and I am not going to waste that much time messing with em.

Ok, I know I shouldn't but I have to ask.
I must have missed this bet in December. Can someone give
me the crib notes or post a link so I can catch up.

To the OP. Here in Texas any Cowboy cards sell well in $1 boxes.
I would bet your state team or city team would sell the same way.

Not when you're a Vikings or Wolves fan in MN. image

Seriously though, Steelers, Packers, Cowboys and Yankees always sell well, no matter where you're at.

You should pay your bet too.

Your willingness to take the bet was not conditional upon Allen providing you with a mailing address within 180 seconds after the wager had been finalized.

I think we all know you aren't going to pay up, and while anyone would agree that welching on a bet is a Bush-league move ( I bet even you are at least slightly ashamed by your behavior) it isn't the end of the world. While you 'owe' Allen the Ted Williams pack, I'm sure that at this point he would be satisfied with a public apology and an admission here, on the boards, that you acted rashly and have no intention of paying. That may sound unpalatable, but it's probably a whole heck of a lot better than having this embarrassing episode shoved in your face every time you make a post.

Guy, what about his quest for a collection manager? Can we continue to throw that in his face?

I think that largely depends on one's current level of intoxication. I'm about three quarters of the way around the bend right now, compliments of a few 22 oz. bottles of Pacifico, and when I get this way I tend to cast a charitable eye upon the foibles and miscues perpetrated by my fellow man. If, however, I wake up tomorrow morning surly and hungover (and I'd put the 'yes' for that proposition at around -800, although I am still occasionally capable of an early morning rally) then it might deem it wise to once again enter the breach, and pepper these boards- and, in particular, this thread-- with a few well placed volleys of that snarling righteousness and condescending humor which has endeared me to so many of my fellow CU posters.

But back to the original query regarding the collection manager issue. The short answer, Lee, is simple: 'It depends'. Although, speaking for myself, anyone who has the pluck to publicly ask for input on the costs and benefits associated with hiring someone to manage their baseball card collection is precisely the sort of chap whom we should boldly encourage to post more often.
