Strong strike with more surface marks.....or softer strike with less surface marks????
  • adamlaneusadamlaneus Posts: 6,969 ✭✭✭
    I prefer a strong strike.

    Airtite or Intercept shield?

  • Newcomp103Newcomp103 Posts: 2,223
    Intercept!

If you just gotta buy a "problem" coin......Cleaned, Altered Surface or questionable toning?

My answer...I guess...cleaned. Not a happy question or answer, is it?
I'll have to go with patriot for my final answer...

I know this question isn't quite like the rest of the questions...but the answer might be meaningful and educational. It would be nice to get more meaningful and educational questions on this thread!!!

I believe I know what cleaning is. As far as artificial toning goes, I believe I understand that too.
What is an altered surface then? Whizzing? Tooling? Both and more? Something else?

I have a Morgan Dollar certified by ANACS that I tried to cross last year....PCGS called it "altered surface"....which I was told in the case of the coin I have may have been "Thumbed".....I dont have enough of a trained eye to see it....no other dealer I have shown it to sees it either...but that along with what you said (whizzed, tooled, etc...)

Ya got me there thestig! Let me rephrase the thesis: Mo Rocca "coined" the idea that inspired this DJCoinz thread.

So the question is Mo Rocca or Jon Stewart?

    Mo Rocca's This or That.

Bjork or Bob Dylan an example. This guy is out on the steets of NY doing the "this or that" thing relentlessly.
The example above is about 10 months old BTW.

I do love this thread DJCoinz. image
