Anybody tell me anything about Fro-Joy Ice Cream Babe Ruth cards?

Good day,
I just recieved in a lot of Vintage Advertising stuff an Un-Cut sheet with 6 Babe Ruth Cards from Fro-joy Ice Cream. Appear to be about Post War (WW II), colored cards. # 1-6, painted pictures, stories on front and back. "Fro-joy" Ice Cream Cones.
Anybody give me any info on these?
Thanks
Neil

I dont know much about the originals - but I do know that a plethora of reprints are floating around on the bay - if you do a search here on the boards you will get a few hits with good info...

This set of cards is so counterfitted that PSA will not even grade them. Odds are you've picked up counterfits, yes there are plenty of counterfit sheets going around as well. You have the whole set, there were only 6 cards. As far as telling the real ones from the mountains of fakes, I'll let others with more knowledge chime in but some of the fakes have a slight rose colored tint to them.

Oh by the way, I believe they were originally issued in 1928. Also, they were black & white, I've never heard of colored ones. Would love to see a scan. Good luck.

Here is the breakdown on the F52 Fro-Joy cards....

Color Cards (colorized B&W pictures).................. are reprints from the late 1970s-80's and are basically worthless.

Blue Tint ........................are reprints too, I believe from the 1980s-90s, basically worthless.

B&W............................ 99.7% are modern reprints, .3% (roughly) are authentic. The problem is its tough for anyone to tell from a scan, and they will usually need an authentic card to compare the print style and quality. If you know about your halftone printing process, you may be able to ID an authentic card under a loop without comparing, but its not easy unless you know what to look for.

Fro-Joy cards are the most highly reprint cards of all time.

    Good Day,
Same sheet (Type) I originally asked about. Still have mine, don't have any use for it. The first person to answer this thread and give me $3 for the mailer and the postage and it's yours. Earliest poster wins.
