Hey Harvey, How are you? I am sitting here without my Overton, and to try to guess on a 27 is futile. But I would listen to everything the bustchaser says about 27's.
Harvey, a few reverse pick-up points which aren't listed in the book. (This goes for all dates, not just the 1827.) Check out where the scroll starts as compared to ED and ends at AM. Check where the upright on the 5 points at the eagle's claw. Note where the olive branch ends in relation to the C in 50 C.
Everyone does it differently, but I personally have always found it easier to ID the reverse die and then figure out which obverse it was paired with.
Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.
Nope not the O121. Looks like the O139. I'ding rev. V with the recut "N" in United. Always broader at the top and tapers to the bottom, recutting only seen in EDS. There are other things that point to this. The T to I alignment really narrows the field on 1827's.
