1995 Lincoln VS. 1995 DDO Lincoln

I have been wondering why a PCGS graded 1995 Lincoln cent in MS68 lists at $190.00 and a 1995 DDO MS68 lists at $180.00. Isn't the DDO more rare and desirable? Is it a steal to pick one up at this "questionable" price?

Number of collectors may be an equalizer for demand.

So your saying that the 1995 is in a higher demand? If that was true why are the prices of the lower grade DDO's more?

It might be that there are a few condition rarity collectors driving prices for the top pop non-DDO while DDO demand is more spread out with more people being happy with any coin than a top pop. Just a speculation based on the numbers.

The 1995 DDO was identified early and slabbed in large numbers. It is an example of a hyped variety that had no staying power.
    All glory is fleeting.

So in that case because more DDO's are slabbed than regular 1995's the price is lower? This seems that just because they where graded this reduces their price! Does anyone agree that there might be an underlying problem influenced by these grading companies? image

    Supply and demand.
It's just a penny ! Of course, this was said about the 1955 DDO, as well.

There are close to 11,000 1995 DDO's graded with only 535 regular 1995's. The price's make complete sense.

I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

They make sense to me too, Lee. The more the merrier.
    I purchased 5 1995 DDO's in MS 68 a couple years ago.

There are thousands upon thousands of rolls of 1995 pennies sitting in homes and inventories of people who looked for the doubled die. Now, if that many among the small percentage of coins that were the DD turned out to grade 68RD, then wouldn't basic logic dictate that if the non-DD coins were sent in, we would have more 68RDs than we know what to do with?
