Looking for another hobby.

Hello guys. I am a big baseball card guy, but have been thinking of getting in to metal detecting. I used to do it many years ago just to tinker around a bit and I loved it. There are alot of cool places in my area I would like to explore, one of which is an amusement park that closed down in 1987. It was in operation for nearly a hundred years.
I am in need of info on what kind of detector I should buy to get my feet wet. I dont want a cheapo that I will want to replace in a few months, but I also dont want to spend a fortune. Any info for this novice is appreciated.

I'm in the same boat as you are. Huge into baseball cards and just recently started metal detecting. It's nice having something to do while waiting for eBay auctions to end.

CoC has given great advice... do some research, ask questions - here and other forums. I agree with your premise to buy a good one to begin with. Detecors have come a long way in the last ten years.. and the technology covers the spectrum from toy to professional. That amusement park sound fantastic.... good luck. Cheers, RickO
