How do I change my "search" on eBay so lots that close first will be in order?
This new default setting they have instituted is terrible. How do I change from the default setting?
All glory is fleeting.

<< <i>Ah, finally a question that I might be able to answer. On your eBay search there is an option labeled "Sort By" at the top of the listing. Clicking on this gives you several options, including items "Ending Soonest" and "Newly Listed". By selecting "Ending Soonest", you can look at the items that will close first. >>
This is correct, however, when you log out and log back in the default goes back to the previous default setting. IF you wish to change this setting as your default you need to:
To set your general preferences:
From the left column of My eBay, click the “Site Preferences” link under My Account.
On the Site Preferences page, under General Preferences, click the “Show” link next to any General Preference that you want to change. The list expands and displays your current settings.
Tip: To make the page easier to read, click the “Hide” link to hide any preference you’re no longer viewing.
Make your selections, and click the Apply button.
Note: If you’re updating the Searching and Buying Preferences, click the “Edit” link. This will take you to the control page, where you can update the option and click the Save button.
Link to ebay instructions page
Scroll down to bottom of page you will see Browse Sort by field. Change to what you want it to remain at. Click apply.
I'm not sure if you were referring to the My Ebay page that shows your bids/watched items or the general search page where you can view all auctions.
<< <i>I just tried to change it. Nothing happened. >>
You might have a cookie from eBay with your old prefs. Try logging out and logging back in, maybe also close your browser in between, and see if that helps.
