Toned Lincolns...HELP !!!!!!

Hey you Lincoln guys, I need some serious help. While circ pictures are no problem for me, I am fine with what i'm getting, I just cannot take a raw ( or slabbed ) primo toner and get any good color pics. My toners on my site are capitol S sweet in hand, but look like dogs in the pics. I am afraid to list any more untill I learn how to get some freakin decent pics. HELP !!!!!!!

Color is dependent upon high angle lighting. the higher the better. not a big problem with raw, but much more diificult with a slab.

    What he said!
AJ- I just shot these slabbed coins. One light is at 11 o'clock about 2" from the lens, the other is at 6 o'clock right up against the lens. I hope it's of some help. Mike

I have some pretty good shots of slabbed toned Lincolns on Ebay but I don't want to post a link to spam the boards.......I could post some shots from completed auctions? Are you wanting full slab shots or just the coins themselves....

I find difussed lighting shots work the best for toned Lincolns as you can really show off the color without the slab glare...image

Some examples of full slab shots....very easy to then just crop the coins themselves if you don't want the whole slab in the picture.....

Yeah, not pics, but HOW to take them is what I'm looking for also. Diffused light,.....like the coin under a dome ( I have tried a milk gallon cut in half with the lens thru the spout and the light shining thru the white plastic, best shots so far, but it hurts the luster)

yes...difussed lighting captures the color and almost eliminates the luster.......if I want both color and luster then I just angle the slab and have a few light sources above the slab shinning down like this:

I use GE Reveal bulbs myself......nothing else works as well for me...

I agree with the reveal bulbs, I have gotten the best, most accurate color since switching to them.
