ALMOST my worst day in a long long time!

So I paid over $300 for a rare McGwire card that I needed, and I am ecstatic to find it should easily grade Gem Mint once I got it in the mail. I decide to scan it before I send it in so I can have a great raw image for my website, and I get a little sidetracked after eating lunch and forget that its on the scanner bed. I go to scan another batch of cards, and opened the lid pretty quickly forgetting the card is there. The card sticks to the lid as I open it, and slides down making a sickening "cardboard meets plastic" noise. The lid was at a perfect angle and shoots the card right down into the paper feed INTO the inside of my printer/scanner. After running in circle repeating "ohgodohgodohgod..." and take a breath, I start trying to get my card back. The thought of having to pick the printer up and shaking it upside down like a piggybank to get my card was making me sick. I ended up having to tilt the scanner back just a little until I could see the card, and then put some tape on the end of a ruler and fished it out. Imagine my surprise when I got the card out and found NO DAMAGE whatsoever. I can't believe it! The card must have landed perfectly on its side when it made the noise!

I thought that stuff like this only happened to me.

With a little pretending, you could almost swear it was another variation of the "The dog ate my homework".

  • What Mac card was it?

Glad it worked out well, and no damage.

I think everyone has done something dumb with cards or other stuff over the years - it's part of the hobby I guess.

At least your story had a very happy ending!
