Do the stories posted here plant ideas in the heads of others about ways to use PP especially to take advantage of sellers?

Sure, buy gold and platinum. Do chargeback and re-sell to pay off other debts.

    Works for me. image

Edited, this works since sig conf does not seem to make any difference because the purchaser can just claim that the package was empty.

Edited, prove the packages was full, I dare you. image

Edited, honest it had 3.7 ounces of paper in it. image

You forgot 1 step.....after the chargeback, offer "partial payment" to seller...tell him it is downpayment and the rest will come. once he accepts the payment, police stay out of it....

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • Risk is a part of doing business. With all the deadbeats (sellers & buyers) on eBay at least with PayPal you have some recourse to document your case.

Being able to document/air your grievance is desirable, but it is no substitute for relief. I know that the horror stories on these threads are perhaps not a representative sampling of the experience of those using Paypal, but If I were a prospective seller (I'm not knowledgeable enough about coins anyway), I would be terrified to use them. However unscientific my fears might be, I wouldn't use them. Once I had built a good relationship with my dealer, as a courtesy, I would just send him an email so that he could kill the Ebay auction of any item that I wanted. And I simply mailed him a personal check that day. Why make him give Ebay and Paypal their liter of blood/kilogram of flesh? Paying by check is something simple that I can do for a dealer and now also a friend. He really appreciates it. And he likewise trusts me, because he ships the same day that he receives my check or even earlier. I know from looking at the postmark So what about it dealers? How many of you are niche specialists that get repeat business from the same bidders? Any chance that you can forge such a relationship of trust and have some bidders save you on some of those fees? Or is my case a rarity?

Paypal has called me once per week for 2 weeks to tell me that I am a valuable customer. They also gave me a $50 coupon to use for a 'deal gone bad'/coins not received.

    I am dead serious.

As a seller, it has been smooth sailing, I only seem to have ebay stumbles when buying.......

Not a single chargeback here in thousands of transactions. I've smelled out a couple of scammers before shipping but they were pretty obvious. --Jerry
