Low budget upgrades for my 7070

Had a circulated, not eye appealing, steel cent and a vg 1938 Jefferson.
I'm much happier now.

Holes in a 7070 can be a real downer. image

    Thanx.
Been taking pics in sunlight and it washed these out way too much.
But they are really nice cheapos. image

You gotta have a nice bright steelie in a 7070 set. That one, which is probably brighter in hand, would be a big improvement over a circ, since circs tend to be that battleship grey (or worse, multicolored and splotchy).

There are some holes in the album that I wouldn't even bother filling until I had decent UNC coins, and those are some of them.

What-all's in the rest of the album? I always like seeing folks' 7070s.

Well......... She's not ready for her coming out party yet. image
It's shaping up pretty nice though. Most of my best type stuff is in it.
It's made me realize what I needed to focus on. Like the lower end stuff.
Lookin' for a killer war jeff next. I have several circ's but want the blazer in it.

I really like seeing other folks' too.

I'm lovin' building my 7070, but wow it can be pricey and downright time consuming if you're picky at what you want in that album.

I enjoy the time consuming part of it.
I'm trying to keep it civil on the price part of it. Some of 'em are just not going to be top shelf.
I had a good head start because I've always collected type but I'm in BIG trouble when I get to the Seated and Trade dollars. image

Nothin' wrong with that. Everybody's got their budget range, and as long as you focus on the nicer stuff within that range, you can assemble a perfectly respectable collection. I have seen nice low-end collections as well as eyepopping high-end collections. Some of those nice middle-of-the-road collections can be quite fun to look at.

Keep at it, and work on upgrades like the ones you just did, and while you might not ever achieve a sensational set like Baley's or some of the others posted, you can still build an attractive and interesting set.

It's all good- I like looking at some of the lower end sets as much as I do the high end ones. Even more, sometimes. You can always tell somebody who's put some thought and work into his collection, no matter which budget level he's playin' in.

I'm with you there. I already had most of the gold besides quarter eagles and dollar gold, but to land a decent, non counterfeit, Trade and Seated Dollar is a tough one. I already have one seated, but the other seated and the Trade are two I'm sitting idol and saving money for and budgeting other money for my Jefferson set.
