TT VAM / DMPL Opportunities

I was looking back over my notes as I was seeing my old DMPL and VAM purchases and it was startling to see how many I was going to bid at Teletrade that I didn't or didn't win, but sure wish I had. Here are some examples. Note that VAMs before 1997 were prior to the Top-100 publishing and the start of its popularization. Alos note that identified VAMs were all ANACS then.

I completely understand where you are coming from.

I found some old records of mine during spring cleaning and looked back at what I missed out on and think what I would pay today for an example of the coin.

But I also look at some of the coins in the collection and think I did have some marks in the win column.

Hard to predict the future but easy to look back.

Yes, the good old days. It would be nice just to find some of those PL and DMPL Morgan's up for sale.

I can remember a famous Boston dealer back in the 70s , that was famous for selling black and white Morgans..many selling for under 100.00.

Yeah, guys like us were gobbling them up. Sure wish I'd been a little more aggressive in hindsight.

And yes, in the 70s they were much cheaper. Still the premium asked over brilliant UNC was speculative at the time. Some thought things were getting insane.

I still kick myself for not being more aggresive and calling the person who sold an 1896-o ms60dmpl pcgs on ebay. The listing was up for a day, he likely got a call from someone else as it was taken off ebay and when I finally did email the seller, he said it was sold. Given it was a pop1 coin at the time and I saw it appear in a registry set, I know where it went.

Did your notes from that sale get eaten by the dog?

No. They are just highly disorganized. I am one of those people who writes on the backs of other papers and envelopes. At leats I do mark the sale and date on each.

So tell us about that 14.7. Sweet coin you got?

I confess. I'm just as disorganized. I'll have to sift through mountains of paperwork to find the T.T. receipt. I beleive it was purchased in 2001. Sure would be a lot easier if T.T. had a search function for key words.

OOPs!! the light just went on. It was a 14.12. That's even more of a surprise.
