Reholder Question...Old Green Holders.

If I send a coin in that is in an older holder - green insert, will PCGS simply transfer the OGH insert to a new plastic slab? Or, will I lose the benefit of the OGH?

Inquiring minds would like to know. Thanks!

I'm 99.9% Sure you'll loose the Green Insert?

You lose the insert and the old school seven digit serial for a brand spanking new slab AND new eight digit serial number.

New blue tag, with a longer SN, but the coin will be the same coinimage

  • Wouldn't this add a coin to the census? NGC keeps the info on the label, same S/N and other data.

PCGS keeps the "same" # on reholdered coins, altough the number of digits may increase for older holdered coins (i.e., they add a 0 as the first #; hence the actual SN is the same).

If it's simply a reholder you will lose the green insert tag.

If you are going to send it in for reholder, you might as well kick in a few extra bucks for a regrade. As we know (according to ebay, that is), older holders are lock upgrades.
