Selling on Teletrade Versus Ebay---Question

I have some higher end Franklin Half Dollars ( MS66 FBL toned ) and Morgan Dollars ( MS66 or MS65PL )......all PCGS and NGC certified and graded.

On average, which is the better venue to maximize price realized and net profit........Teletrade versus ebay?

Thank you, in advance, for any help.

Richard

Teletrade seems to get strong prices at times, but there is the wait for money etc., same as Heritage. I do see things going for absolutely silly money on ebay though, sometimes 2+ times what the coin should normally sell for, but for higher end coins I personally would look at Heritage/Teletrade/DLRC. And if time isn't a worry get them scheduled at one of the major show auctions, that's where the big money goes.

I heard it is around 45 days to get your funds from TT or Heritage. They charge both a sellers fee and a buyers fee for lower priced items.

e-bay if done right can be done for less than 10% in fees. vs. 15+ % on the other places.

The problem with strong prices on Teletrade is that many time they aren't real.

Definitely ebay, why would I want to wait 30 or 45 days for my money when I can have it from paypal within 3 days? Furthermore, from my experience prices realized on ebay are usually a pretty good chunck more than teletrade. Yes, teletrade offers cash advances, but why not just list on ebay and get your full proceeds within a few days and even bother with cash advances? From a buyers prespective Teletrade seems like a good source, but I always wonder who is doing the selling. What always made me reluctant to use Teletrade is the not being able to do a listing with only a few dollars to risk. I can list a coin on ebay for $500 with a listing fee of a couple of dollars, but with teletrade it seems much more involved and much more expensive.

Put them on the BST. I am interested in any Franklins with attractive toning.

I'm not a big fan of ebay, so my opinion may be biased to some degree, but I'd go with Teletrade unless they are really superb, then Heritage might be a better venue because they offer a larger base of buyers. Teletrade and Heritage also photographs the coins for you. I would also be interested in any (Franklins) that are superb with great color, let us know where you decide to sell them, you could always pm me I'd be a buyer. It's unfortunate that Franklins have languished on the price sheets for so long, but exceptional examples still bring very strong prices, so a venue like Heritage may ultimately give you your widest exposure. Good luck whatever you decide to do with them.

So as a seller would most posters here have more faith in Heritage getting you a better price or Teletrade?? My personal opinion is ebay is where I would get the best price for my coins, but if I had to go with Heritage or Teletrade in the future I would like to know where I would likely realize the best prices. I love ebay because if I have a $500 coin and I want $500 for it I can just do a starting bid of $480 and a buy it now for $500. If it sells great I get what I was looking to get and if not I eat a $2 or $3 listing fee.

It will take teletrade 2 months to auction your coins and then send you the money. Ebay is much faster but you deal with the buyers directly.
