Best source for envelopes/mailers for coins?

jonathanbjonathanb Posts: 4,039 ✭✭✭✭✭
I while ago I caught a fantastic sale for 6x10 "#0" padded mailers at Staples, and I stocked up. Now I'm down to my last few, and I need to get replacements.

It looks like I can buy the same mailers in lots of 100 for $0.15-$0.20/each.

I've been happy enough with those padded envelopes, but before I place an order does anyone else have any better ideas that I should consider?

Thanks!

jonathan

I always buy mine on eBay. Last time I bought I got 200 shipped for just over 11 cents each.

Positive BST transactions with: too many names to list! 36 at last count.

Where's the best place to buy Safe-T-Mailer's?

I'm starting to run out of the batch I bought in the 90's.

    I am with Russ,

Somebody from royal mailers advertised on the BST some time back and I have been ordering there ever since. Fairly quick deliverey and easy ordering. Much cheaper buying in quantity than say at a discount store. My bottom line for this tax year will be much better just from the supplies cost reduction.

    << <i>I am with Russ,

I'm sorry but I have to say I'm not with Russ on this one. I bought a carrier Pigeon back in the early 60's. Bought him for $5.00 used at a Pet cementary. He is still going strong. The pigeon has logged over 3,322 flights of various deliveries. I can figure the differents right now of the $5.00 invested, but I think I will trade him in for another one if he ever loses a coin.image

FYI, Royal Mailers had their website down yesterday for maintenance. They had a message posted that you can get 10% off any order today (Sunday) only, using the coupon code SAVE10.

Now I have another few hours to decide if I want to buy 100 #0 mailers for $18 (with the discount), which should last me a very long time, or 250 of them for $30, which should last me approximately forever...

I used to order from eSupply, but switched to royalmailers. With shipping, they're cheaper and ship just as quickly.

IMHO safe-t-mailers (not to be confused with bubble wrap envelopes) are overpriced/overated. At .35 each you can better protect the merchandise with bubble wrap for lot less money.

You can buy the sticky cardboard in bulk. I have a 3ft x 50ft roll for $32 buck that will last for many years to come.

Safe-t-mailers in a #10 envelope do a lot better job of disguising what's inside than bubble envelopes when you're mailing stuff to countries which are not known for the security of their postal systems. image

Those are the large ones, and that's the price for one piece. I use the #6, and they cost me less that 15¢ each.

I can't speak to the Royal Mailers site which sounds good here, but
you could also check with ULINE. They are one of the biggest shipping
suppliers in the country and I've purchased their items at work. Huge catalog,
they have everything. I think their prices compare well, but I could be wrong
as I haven't ordered for personal use (thus I didn't scrutinize over it image )

I've used both Royal Mailer and esupply store. While esupply may be a couple of cents cheaper (assuming facts not in evidence), the Royal Mailer Bubble envelopes seem to be a bit stronger.

I believe we have the best price on smaller lots (100 or so) safety mailers when shipping is factored in. We can also match or beat prices on larger lots but don't have them listed on the website.

    Thanks for the business guys!

We just refreshed the coupon code "COLLECTORS" for a 10% discount and free shipping.

Or prices are normally well under the rest of the re-sellers without factoring our free shipping offer.

This is not spam, but just a "Thank you" for the business that this sites gives our company everyday.

Not to be a naysayer, but rather providing an alternate viewpoint:

I purchased 200 Poly Bubble Mailer Size #2 from Royal Mailers. While the delivery was prompt and I find no fault with the vendor, the self-adhesive strip on these is decidedly subpar. Too easy to open.

I prefer these. The adhesive is so permanent that the mailer cannot be opened without a knife or scissor; completely tamper-proof.

FYI, I double-pad all coins. I put the coins or slabs in 4" x 5.5" bubble bags (with adhesive seal, the bag folded over itself), and then ship in bubble mailers.

The multiple layers of bubble give exceptional protection...

I bought several supplies from Wayne Herndon recently and I highly recommend him. The items were top quality, reasonably priced, and the shipping was unbelievably fast. I believe I got the shipment 2 days after I ordered (using a credit card).
