769 Gram (25 OzT) Gold Nugget w/ Gold Coin Photos -- Gold Nugget Rarity Chart & Background Info

I am pleased to share the first digital photos of my Gold Nugget which I purchased this several years ago while in Perth Australia, back when gold was selling for under $300 per ounce.
According to the Perth Mint (largest seller of gold nuggets in the world) gold nuggets this size are rare with fewer than 20,000 estimated to exist worldwide (rare for gold nuggets). I actually purchased this one from the display window of a jewelry store on Hay Street.
I have added a few gold coins for scale to keep it barely on topic...

If you`re ever in Las Vegas, go to the casino " Golden Nugget " on Fremont Street ( across the street from Binnions Horseshoe ). They have a nugget that`s the largest nugget privately owned weighting in at 26+ Troy Pounds! It was found in all places in somebodys backyard about a foot in the ground in Australia. It`s off the main casino in a labyrinth of halls.

Very cool nugget
I think that it originally came from one of the Australian Gold Fields, from a dry desert environment, which is why is is more angular and not water worn & rounded.

Mike: Thanks for your comment on the 1897 $10 Liberty imaged earlier in this thread. Here is a close-up of the obverse of both the 1883-S $20 Lib and the 1897 $10 Lib for your viewing pleasure...

Nice nugget! How exactly big is that nugget? Can it barely fit into your hand?
Looks like a giant meteor.
And I want to know how much it costs, :cringes at the thought:.

<< Stuart - what is it's rarity / collector value beyond its gold content? >>
JDelage: In reply to your above question, according to the informative Perth Mint web site Perth Mint Gold Nugget Rarity, they estimate that there are approximately 20,000 gold nuggets in this size catagory and larger existent in the world. If so, that would make this a rather rare item, not even taking into account it's intrinsic gold bullion value.
GoldCoinLover: Market value for gold nuggets is typically 2x-3x the gold bullion value, but for large rare (museum piece type) gold nuggets the market is similar to that for some of the rarer coins -- whatever the buyer and seller agree upon.

The gold coins and the ruler were included in the photos for scale, to show you the exact size of the nugget.
