We also own a real estate business overseas. If it really came down to it............I'd become a working owner of that business. I'd rather not but who knows how deep they're going to dig into our pockets and personal freedoms here at this point. Now should there be a general protest against this kind of thing that would be great, but frankly I don't see the type of individualism that separated this country from all the others to prevent this type of government intrusion and socialism ( with the exception of what we've seen in the Ron Paul camp ).
mrearlygold, would you accept as a possibility that the individualism is present, but the awareness for the need for collective action isn't?Respectfully, John Curlis
Speculators are playing the commodity markets like a fiddle. Big money from hedge funds has poured in and even Calpers (the Calif. Retiement System) has bought in. This brings overall prices up on most items but you still have the whales eating the fish, huge price swings that players bettter keep an eye on-----------------------BigE
Too much is controlled by Wall street, Madison avenue, department of education and capitol hill. Banks and stock holders reward those who gut our productive capacity and ship it to China. Thousands of dollars are expropriated in every new car sale and given to ball dribblers, catchers, and hitters and their organizers. Federal laws against price fixing and collusion haven't been enforced in decades. More than half of urban school students don't graduate any more while many more are functionally illiterate. Gangs are allowed to roam free nearly everywhere. People willingly purchase food degraded intentionally so the retailers can charge extra. We import workers who are abused by substandard wages. We spend more money transporting some products made with old technology from other countries than it would cost to produce them here. We waste huge amounts of fuel to produce ethanol which drives up the cost of food and further depletes energy supplies. Despite a potentially disasterous energy problem of biblical proportions we've built very few new coal powered plants. Health care goes more to the well insured than the sick.
The free market didn't build these things. The American people did through their representatives and their refusal to demand quality or value in anything.
It should also be remem- bered that if silver were to soar from this point that it might cause a collapse of some of the major silver shorts. This could be disruptive to further advances.
What fool is shorting silver?
If you know about bubbles, and frankly by now, who doesn't, you should realize that a true bubble is when prices are going higher daily and the smart money is shaking their heads in disbelief. The buyers are the common masses who are so paranoid about missing the opportunity that they throw out all logic to buy that special "something". Be it Tulips in 1636, South Sea stock in 1720, US stocks in 1928, Dot-com stocks in 1998, 1950-D nickel rolls in 1960, Low pop certified type in 1990, Wisconsin Extra Leaf quarters in 2005 or Real Estate in 2006.
There will likely be a silver and gold bubble, but now we are in the data accumulation phase. Future promoters will use todays data to promote gold and silver's "inevitable rise to $5,000 and $200"!
Tomorrow should be an interesting day on Wall Street. If Bear can go from a close of $60 on Thur. to $2 on Monday some will likely be looking to knock a few points off Merrill, Lehman, and Citi.....................
While Ben dumps money on problem look for further decline in dollar.................

There is no free market any longer.

Ted Butler has probably put more thought into this than anyone.

Bubble may be starting to inflate tonight.
Will shorts keep the bubble at bay?
