ebay: How long is long enough? (item I won and still waiting)

BBNBBN Posts: 3,761 ✭✭✭
I won an item on ebay on 2/27 and paid on 2/28. I don't want to be a pest, but have I waited long enough to send him a question regarding my item? Maybe he's forgotten it. Is waiting 12-13 days long enough to inquire about it? Thanks

It's fair to ask after 7-10 days, depending if you used PayPal or a check.
Have bought and sold on BST, many references available when asked.

Yes, no harm in sending an e-mail after two weeks. Once in a while, a package takes longer than this...or is lost. Or sometimes the seller goofed; the seller ought to be able to check shipping records to verify when the item was shipped.

Don't really know what the point of this post is...not a big deal to send an email. I'd have contacted him after a week (7 business days).

One reason I will reply to just about anything at this point is to get my post count up.

    See?

I agree that I should have probably contacted by now. I paid by paypal. I just don't want to come off as being pushy. I've sold alot of stuff too and I realize some buyers can be real PITAs on ebay. image

I always check if not received within a week, if paid with PP. Priority mail is supposed to take 3 days, but first class a little longer - so I think a week is sufficient. Some eBayers are lazy tho, and don't mail things right away.

    darn procrastinators!

Unless you paid by a personal check, I'd say you shouldn't feel bad about questioning.

People do get busy and fall behind sometimes so a little note mentioning the day you paid along with "Has the item been shipped yet?" usually gets back a friendly reply.

Yeah, I simply asked if it's been shipped. The ebayer also has a B&M so I realize they are pretty busy.

No, it's not too long and I'm sure the seller would probably appreciate the reminder. Most of the sellers are just average joes and sometimes these auctions get away from them (and me image). No one means to be this way but if for whatever reason they show that they already shipped this to you (happens) it's then forgotten. I know it sucks when it's your item but haven been on both sides for 7+ years now it always pays to try to work it out. If someone is going to screw you you'll know from how they respond and that's a whole new ball of wax.

    Either way. good luck. image

Geez, I haven't received an item that I paid for, with PayPal, on the 25th. Check his feedback and see if any items that were bought around the same time as yours have been received yet.

Unless it's Christmas time...waiting 12 days is to long. Make sure that you give him the appropriate DSR rating. As a seller, all my items are mailed out withing 24 hours after receipt of payment and as a buyer I expect the same.
