a lot a dough for a coin, raw, off the internet
But, who cares as it's still one heck of a nice coin and you can always upgrade later!

But it does look FH to me for a 1916.
Let's say for the sake of argument the coin has been wiped, or for some other reason would be bodybagged (but not for something that would be inconsistent with the photos) What would it be worth if it's indeed genuine but won't slab at PCGS or NGC?
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
However, I would only buy a certified coin at this level. But, it does look nice.
You wouldn't believe how long it took to get him to sit still for this.

yes.

<< <i>not a nice coin at all, not whatsoever. it's harshly cleaned, clumisily retoned & digi-piced deceptively to hid the buttload of problems.

I agree. This auction is dog turtles.

Actually, I didn't seriously consider the "digi-piced" possibility. You really think so?
I suppose color and originality are always questionable with raw coins on eBay. I stay away from them.
Despite the possible problems, the strike on this coin appears to be unusually sharp.

Or, on the other side of the fence how about not bidding on big ticket raw coins with crappy pics?
Doesn't look unc to me.
But, a sharply struck coin that is cleaned and digitally doctored in photos brings me down to earth again. A coin like this must be certified!

The dorkster is spot-on -- it is a cleaned POS. This is why the seller will only guarantee that it is genuine.
Edited to add: Plus, no returns equals no sale, at least not to me.
60 years into this hobby and I'm still working on my Lincoln set!
Maybe the " THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE AUCTION, AND ALL SALES ARE CONSIDERED FINAL" means that a sale is a sale, no reserve, buyback etc. Otherwise, the auction is presumed to be with reserve (3) :

U.C.C. - ARTICLE 2 - SALES
..PART 3. GENERAL OBLIGATION AND CONSTRUCTION OF CONTRACT
§ 2-328. Sale by Auction.
(1) In a sale by auction if goods are put up in lots each lot is the subject of a separate sale.
(2) A sale by auction is complete when the auctioneer so announces by the fall of the hammer or in other customary manner. Where a bid is made while the hammer is falling in acceptance of a prior bid the auctioneer may in his discretion reopen the bidding or declare the goods sold under the bid on which the hammer was falling.
(3) Such a sale is with reserve unless the goods are in explicit terms put up without reserve. In an auction with reserve the auctioneer may withdraw the goods at any time until he announces completion of the sale. In an auction without reserve, after the auctioneer calls for bids on an article or lot, that article or lot cannot be withdrawn unless no bid is made within a reasonable time. In either case a bidder may retract his bid until the auctioneer's announcement of completion of the sale, but a bidder's retraction does not revive any previous bid.

This coin has a FH, but looks to me as it has been cleaned and my only be a future NCS UNC or AU Details FH candidate.
His pics through a loupe aren't the best either!
<< <i>Interesting that he seems to be selling this coin which appears to be the same as this one he bought and cracked out of an NCS holder. Not a very ethical Ebay seller. >>
Yep, that looks like the same coin alright.
<< <i>This is silly at $13K RAW as you can buy a smokin AU58FH in a PCGS holder on Ebay at times for $14,995.00.

My guess would be, at least by extrapolating his actions on the 1909 SVDB, is that the coin has already seen the inside of a NCS holder.

the issue is that this seller is a slimy scumbag snake who intentionally takes misleading digi-pics of coins & dumps em on buyers sight-unseen. now, it is true that people who bid on something sight unseen like this are morons anyway, since it violates the 2nd principle of coin collecting:
DO NOT BUY COINS SIGHT UNSEEN. PERIOD.
but the fact of the matter is that this jerk has purely deceptive listings w/ trick photography & no descriptions of a coins problems.
i wish to he11 someone would break his knees.
