if you click on the seller's other auctions, he/she is selling a 1904-S double eagle as a no mintmark (philadelphia) version

hard to tell if a scam or someone who doesnt know coins......if in doubt go with the former

I would run away from that auction: the 61 looks too good to be true...

IMO these listings reek. There is no way the 1904 is seller's mistake. Clearly describes coin as P, but coin shown is S. Lifted photos. The 1861 $20 Gold piece's photo looks lifted a slab coin most likely. Listing describes as VF grade, coin shown is better than a VF.

Took me about 15 sec...I'd guess the other coin the 1904, seller stole in 2 parts pics from 1 site, description from heritage....run is right very fast,,,,image

    edited for 4 scotch-n waters...

Yup, took description for the 1904 from heritage here, link

and stole the pics from somewhere else, not realizing the heritage description mentions no mintmark.....

I wouldn't risk bidding on an auction for someone under five feedbacks for something expensive.

Definite scam. Has someone reported to eBay that the photos were stolen & where they were stolen from?

I did as soon as I found the source, I have never reported before. How long does it normally take for them to take action?

Interesting, so I sent the following question to the seller:

Where are you in Detroit? I'll be there tomorrow afternoon and would like to see the 1861 $20 gold piece in person. If necessary I can stay over till Sunday evening.
    thanks,
    bob

Wonder what response I'll get.....fun to mess with the mind!image

Bump for the morning people...I asked the seller "Does the coin look as nice as your photos and can you take a picture of the edge?" Response yes it does and I didn't but I can, I'm gonna say go ahead and take those edge shots...

    Nice "Scam-Slam", fellas. image

I smelled the foul odor right away, but wouldn't have been able to nail the evidence so quickly.

I wouldn't recommend that, ya get killed there ya know. One of my friends was a big dope smoker, married with 3 kids and dummy decides 3 days before christmas last year after getting his paycheck to go to some abandoned house near 8 mile in detroit to get some pot, dummy pulls out all his money, dealer tries to rob him and his buddy, he beats the guy up and the guy runs out to his truck, comes back in and kills both of them, story is from the prostitute that was also involved. Very sad, at the funeral seeing his children and they put stuff in his casket, including a sooftball that had DAD written on it.

Ok, here's the response to me question:]

It's nothing against you personally , But if you were the winning bidder and was coming to view the coin before purchase i have no problem with that . But i will not give my home address to just anyone . I hope you can respect that .
