I was looking for something new to collect after getting out of coins after many years and joined the PSA club with the idea I'd start a collection of 1985 Topps football (blackbordered cards if you aren't familiar with the set). I busted a wax box and sent the best 6 in on my "free" submissions and got 5 8's and a 7.
I'm not sure what that was all about and was definately going to quit the hobby because of it.
What was I thinking? I really hate blackbordered cards.
<< <i>I have been dealing in meteorites the last five years, although starting to move away from them it appears. They have allowed me to tour the world and have purchased my house so no complaints. >>
Are you a metal detectorist? >>
To the average person I am, to the die hard detectorist, no. I do have a couple Mine Lad detectors and a larger detector we have attached to a PVC cart to tug around.
We only use metal detectors when we know there are meteorites in the area so they do not get a lot of use, your eyes are your best asset....and knowing what meteorites look like.
Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards. Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.
My ID stands for the 1969 Cubs who are arguably the best Cub team ever. The logo is a photo of Ron Santo in the on deck circle at Shea Stadium in late summer 1969. The infamous black cat trots past Ron and the Cubs dugout and the rest is history. The Cubs would lose that game and collapse down the stretch to finish 2nd behind the Amazin Mets.
Cub fans are still looking for their first title in 100 years. This is the year!!

I have a few slightly ferrous "keepers" from detecting that I've put aside, just in case. All show evidence of re-cooling and charring. Of course I've never taken a cross-section of them and thus not looked at them under a microscope, but they have potential. These were found while swinging a coil, very low tech, and with no prior knowledge of meteorites in the area.
First name is Al, Last Name begins with Nav and I'm a man....thus you get alnavman. Started using this back when I first got on AOL many years ago and wasn't very imaginative.
I have always wanted to find something from outter space , that would be pretty cool to have .
I remember one early morning a few years ago standing in the backyard when some space junk came flying through, it lit up the sky like the sun was shining for about 10 seconds, then it went back to darkeness .
I remember trying to find where it landed , no luck though , never heard it hit , but it looked so close .
If your a DIEHARD Redskins fan then you know my username......

I think you are overestimating the intelligence of some of your fellow board members.

Edited to add: I don't get nearly enough 10's to warrent my username. However, NMMT would be too confusing.
