    Googled UDC and hockey

One of the sites for Upper Deck McDonald's hockey cards:

Where did you see UDC? Usually the only acronyms related to trades are UFA and RFA for unrestricted/restricted free agent.

The address in North Las Vegas appears to be related to everal companies seemingly run by Upper Deck.

Directly from NHL.com under "Completed 07-08 trade"

The trade between the Thrashers and Penguins yielded this:

    Penguin:

    F: Marian Hossa
    F: Pascal Dupuis

    Thrashers:

    F Colby Armstrong
    F Erik Christensen
    (UDC) Angelo Esposito
    2008 1st-Round Draft Pick

    Just found the answer.

    It's Unsigned Draft Choice.

Go to wikipedia and read about

    Uniform Draft Choice. (Hockey.)

The (UDC) seems to be placed after most of the
    trades.

That answer may or may not be correct.

The acronym is used all over the NHL site, BUT
it is not defined. I guess they figure we all know
    what it means

    Unsigned Draft Choice

I also asked the hockey nerds over at the beckett boards.
Those guys are actually pretty good over there with retrieving
answers on current situations. The definition actually makes sense. Esposito was drafted #20 overall (1st rd) last year. He was all excited to be part of the young rookie crop in Pittsburgh (Crosby, Staal, Malkin). He's unsigned playing in the AHL for more seasoing. Overall, I think the Thrashers made out big time. The 2008 draft is going to be very deep. They got 2 very good young forwards; plus Esposito could of gone #1 overall 2 years ago, but his stock dropped; although the hype was all about him playing in Pittsburgh with Crosy and Malkin.
