I'm so mad I could spit - Corrected for Bad Math

badgerbadger Posts: 1,217 ✭✭✭
I mailed coins for regrade on Jan 5. I used a free certificate for eight and paid for the rest on a Regular Submission. I screwed up by not including the certifcate and it took until Jan 19 to get the coins on track. O.K. - my fault. I'm stupid. Coins officially received.

So at 20 business days from Jan 19, I call for a status. In-process. No issues. O.K- I'll be patient.
At 22 business days, I send an email asking for help and an indication of timing. No reply. O.K. - I'll try to be patient
At 24 days, I call for a status. In-process. No issues. No indication of timing. No real concern.

I loose it and cancel the order.

Great. Now I screwed myself. -------------------

What am I going to do now? Go to NGC for crossover?

Super.

You were so close. Usually after calling a couple of times my order miraculously gets done in a couple of days. image
  • Are you saying that PCGS has been taken over by the US MINT? image

You should have waited. Please don't spit, it causes weight loss.

ahooka - I know.... It was almost there. The macabre pleasure of resolving it with a cancellation was immediately replaced with a image

  • Yeah, the Mint is definitely like that. I have had my bald eagles in hand since Tuesday, but still no charge on the credit card...

I'm sorry, but how stupid could you be? Why didn't you pay for a quicker turnaround? If you been reading
the threads lately you'd see that two, three and maybe four weeks was reasonable and you shot yourself
in the foot with not including the voucher.

    Hmmmmmmmmm

Did you really expect an answer from an email? I've only had them write back once, and that was after a friend with more connections asked on my behalf. And phone calls for us always end with a 'we'll call you back, so far we are about 0/7 or 8 with having a call returned...

bob - I accept accountability for the voucher misstep. I thought Regular submission was supposed to be 15 business days. 15 days or thereabouts was fine. I saw current times for Economy that were extended, but I thought Regular was guaranteed or at least close to correct.

Today is only the 24th business day since January 19th if you exclude Presidents' Day and assume no blackout dates on the part of PCGS.

DO NOT CANCEL at this point, there is no point in cancelling, they are just evidently backlogged at the moment.

Edited to add, you have already paid shipping both ways, just let it ride.

One thing that coin collecting has taught me is to be patient. Whether it is waiting for PCGS to do their thing or waiting for that special dcam to become available, we all need to chill out a bit.

If I were you, I would let them process the coins. You already have enough time invested already.

    Hope that helps.

Sometimes life gives you a second chance. Am calling to let it ride.

After correcting the math, it doesn't seem as late.

I think it was just the lack of information and attitude that got me.

Apologies to the fine men and women in Customer Service.

I see no reason to cancel at this point. Be patient and wait. There are a variety of reasons for delay if you read the submission process entirely. I have found it rare, at any level, that their advertised turn around times were 100% accurate. I also submit to NGC and have found the same to be true with them. Quality work takes time although it would be nice if they would update their turn around times.

You have sensory problems, I hope you don't have this problem while engaging in those special times with your wife or Man. But don't be a Premature shooter and wait, time is good to get things done right. Good Luck with your submission.

Remeber that there were two major shows for them to service - although they say that blackout dates are no longer, we all know that shows can slow 'em down. Be patient, and if you want status, call. Not that it will make a difference, but you'll feel better image.
