What would you value this lot of 1980's unopened packs at?

I saw this lot on Ebay of 372 unopened packs. Looks interesting. It was in a reserve auction recently and went for about $450 but that was less than reserve. Now he is asking $950 or some crazy number. I am thinking it's worth about $500. Any thoughts by you experts?

I looked at the auction. Pretty awesome, don't really care for the price though. But, the picture of that store is awesome. Wish I lived close.

I'm no expert by any means, but I wouldn't pay much over a buck a pack for that lot.

1981 T: 2.50 (24) = 60
1981D: 1.50 (63) = 94.50
1981 F: 1.50 (24) = 36
1982 T: 4.00 (14) = 56
1982 F: 3.00 (33) = 99
1983 T: 4.00 (31) = 124
1983 F: 3.00 (26) = 78

3.50 (28) = 98

Once you hit the mid 80's the prices on these boxes drop drastically. Too rich for my blood.

I like this part of the listing... "I have never sent a card in to be graded but I would guess this would be an incredible lot to open to get sharp cards to be graded."

Boxes that are 1/2 and 3/4 full (notice the optimist in me did not say 1/2 empty), like that 1985 Topps for instance, trouble me because right away I think that 8 packs got opened and a few of the key rookies were found. Now, with the odds being slim of more of those rookies in the box, the rest of the packs get sold at the premium "per pack" price, with lesser odds of finding more of the key rookies.

I'd have a hard time paying that much money for the unknown .

Besided that facy that I do not believe 3/4 of the " Un-opened" material is in fact un- opened .

It's been opened and it's been searched

I'd have a tough time laying out much more than $400-500 for that stuff.

I did a show last weekend and was selling most of that stuff (82DF,83DF,85TDF) for $2.00 a pack

Three packs for $8 could be ok. If you're only spending $8

Sell in bulk at above retail. That's a great sales plan

Amazingly, dispite what he says in the description the 88-91 junk was he is selling would be the smart purchase. Far smaller risk and you only have to sell them at three or four for $1 to make a profit

And why do 372 packs cost $75 to ship when 300 packs cost $20?

What would you value this lot of 1980's unopened packs at?
