Just got my Dino-Lite Digital Microscope :)

You have probably seen the other threads on this. I did too. I ordered it on Friday and just got it. These are my first attempts. This thing is smaller than any hand held camera, has it's own lighting system and is a lot of fun.

This is just a Lincoln I pulled from my pocket.

I have to work on focusing but that won't be an issue.

For a microscope it even takes full coin pics. image

Please keep us posted with improved images.

What type of model did you purchase?

Very nice. I bought one yesterday, hopefully it be here soon.
  • Thanks for posting. I played around with these microscopes at the LB show and I could not decide which one to purchase.

If could let us know which one you chose, that would help me out. Thanks.image
  • Is it handheld? Or do you mount it somehow? I know when I do handheld shots with my camera it looks as if my house were built ontop of a CSX track.

  • Has anybody here seen the hand held Optic toy you could use with your TV that they had for kids?

    Has anyone here used it?

I believe it also took pics.

    Yes.
Bought one for my son for Xmas (he likes toned coins and looking at things in my microscope)
Hooked it to the 51" rear projection TV
    It sucks.
Don't buy it (if you really want one, I may sell his to you if you want image )

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

    1. did you shop around and if so where did you buy?
    2. is it capabable of capturing a full image of a larger coin such as a morgan?

Thanks for post, looking forward to some more images.

OK, let's have a link to the web site where you bought it...
I can't stand seeing a new toy like this and not buying one...
I used to be somebody, now I'm just a coin collector.

That's pretty neat. I like that. Little high for dollar for me but that is pretty cool.

I bought it from the website I linked above.

No I did not shop around there are only 3 or 4 places that sell this according to the manufacturers website.

I actually had to reduce the size of the date image, otherwise it would have been bigger than most peoples screens.

Yes it should be able to take pics of full size silver dollars. You just put it in the flexible stand at the appropriate height and then manually focus. I will try some later in the week. You can also turn off the built in lighting and use your own. It does pretty well with just room lighting too. You will have to disable the built in lighting for bright and shiny coins.

Just got this info from dealer on image area:

    Sunrisedino.com

    AM Series Working Distance Example
    zero distance from object @ 211x Magnification - “viewable area” ~ 0.066” (L) x 0.049” (W) / 1.67mm x 1.25mm
    0cm / 0.0” from object @ 60 x Magnification - “viewable area” ~ 0.23” (L) x 0.17” (W) / 5.8mm x 4.3mm
    2cm / 0.79” from object @ 30 x Magnification - “viewable area” ~ 0.4” (L) x 0.27” (W) / 10mm x 7mm
    5.0cm / 2.0” from object @ 20 x Magnification- “ “ = 0.7” (L) / 0.4” (W) / 18mm x 10 mm
    10cm / 3.9” from object @ 17 x Magnification- “ “ = 0.9” (L) x 0.6” (W) / 23mm x 15mm
    15cm / 5.9” from object @ 15 x Magnification- “ “ = 1.5” (L) x 0.9” (W) / 38mm x 23mm
    20cm / 7.9” from object @ 10 x Magnification- “ “ = 1.9” (L) x 1.5” (W) / 48mm x 38mm

Dealer recommends the AM311S or AM411TV2 (if your coin has too much reflect) for coins. Seems the diffuser on the 411TV2 adds about $10.

I don't recomend the TV version I hear it does not hook up to the computer. I might be wrong but worth checking.

Thanks for the post. The macro image capability is one of the most important things to me.
