If nobody has been on CNN yet today there is a story about the Sellers running a Boycott next week on EBay due to the new policies....I wonder how this will turn out...could make for some interesting shopping on some stuff......

It will take way more than just a few forum members, millions need to strike in order
for it to effect ebay. I would imagine ebay will also be hacked as well.
I really could care less if ebay loses millions, hopefully 100's of millions.

Yeas it would.
However, the paypal idea of holding $$ for 21 days is a bit much. They already rip anyone they can and I'll bet the number of "suspicious" transactions rises greatly. Just think of the interest they can draw on all that cash for 21+ days.
They are little more than wolves dressed in sheep's clothing as it is.
It's too bad we don't have an alternative, both eBay and paypal could use being knocked down a peg or three. It would take a great deal of money to offer a competitive alternative, but it could be done and it would be a huge money maker in the long run just by charging a fraction less and actually offering customer service, as opposed to customer screwing.

That policy will only effect a small percentage of sellers. Basically, the type of seller many of us are already avoiding. And, if the seller is using the PayPal mutual fund, they are the ones earning the interest, not PayPal.

it seems there is a possibility of a DDoS attack on Ebay, of biblical proportions.
But changing the feedback program is not a good idea in my view.

Still, it seems a bit heavy handed to me.
Let's just see if there is a dramatic increase in supposedly suspicious transactions. That will tell the tale. At that point they will have little defense that this is just another money grabbing scheme. Time will tell. The feedback idea is completely foolish.

I agree. That works. But the ebay positive feedback needs to explain this action by explaining this to the buyer.
But I believe paypal does not currently hold the funds for 21 days as standard practice? This allows the bad sellers to deplete their funds from their account so that the buyer (or even paypal) is left holding the bag.

Yes, they're only planning to hold 5% of the funds--new sellers, sellers with no feedback, or sellers with very low customer satisfaction rating. They should definitely hold more. How many forum members get scammed and find the scumbag seller has cleaned out his bank account and disappeared? --Jerry

They are having a $1 listing yesterday & today in ebay motors. Normally around $50 to list a vehicle.
I will boycott, count me in.
I personally will boycott with everyone just so I don't get caught "Crossing the picket line"!
Besides, I could use an eBay vacation.

The reason that ebay is trying all of these gymnastics moves is BECAUSE quite a few bidders are leaving the flea..last quarter 's active bidders growth slowed to one of the slowest ever.
