By the way, you can get to this site without the "referid" in the URL. I suspect that part gives the OP a kickback like those "rover" links.
  • Not even going to bother. Yeah right, no downside risk. Even cash has a downside risk of inflation.

Agree. This whole scenario defies logic.

Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

  • i didn't put the ref id in the link on purpose. i just copied the link from my address bar. and i am not a spammer, i just wanted to share what i think is a very safe way to invest in gold. No harm intended.

  • Let's see....new member ,12 post history , and giving advice on safe investing. Sounds like reciepe for disaster.
BTW the down side risk is that you only get your principle back after sitting on a CD for 5 years. Not very appealing

What would happen if you took half of the interest you get on a regular CD and bought options on gold futures with it? Seems to me that would give you a lot of participation in the gold market if gold prices rose, AND if gold fell and the options expired worthless, you still have half your interest left rather than zero.

I assume this is the sort of thing these things do.

There is always a downside risk. No matter what you have to have money tied up and if gold stops rising or crashes the rest of your money is losing to inflation.

Why would gold stop rising if inflation keeps rising? To me, this looks like a good hedge against inflation.

    spam but not scam.

i have seen this done b4...it does work...and i have a similar investement from long ago tied to the S&P, or 5%...whichever is higher.

so you think that 100k is just sitting there? it's being put to use while you look at the gold charts every day. if the CD actually purchased gold...then i'd be concerned.

still don't think it's a wise move, at all.

your downside risk is ZERO return after tying up your money.....

Sounds like that's what they do. Banks offer Market Linked CDs that work like this that are linked to stocks or anything. There are some bad points and some good points.

Here's an article about ones linked to stock markets:

We have offered products like these at my firm (large brokerage house), while they seem legit I have never seen a situation where there are suitable for people. I am sure it fits someone out there but giving someone else a cut of returns for a principle guarentee on commodities doesnt seem right.
