Another 1916 quarter on ebay, PCGS I think not...
Ebay Auction link
Seems to be implying that the coin is PCGS graded, its not, and its clearly not a 1916 either! Thought ebay was supposed to be putting a stop to these things?

He doesn't even need to try and explain it to the drones. All that needs to be said is that the seller mentions PCGS several times in a listing for a raw coin. Instant nuke.

<< <i>The date is very clear, 1916, no doubt about it

I clicked on the link at the bottom of the item page, but all it does is allow you to select a category it falls into- I clicked and submitted the one for misleading title. They didn't allow any more details.

<<Dear ahooka454,
please read the listing, this coin is not slabbed by pcgs, only equal in quality to other slabbed quarters graded by pcgs. i am not nor will be numismatic collector. i just do antiques. this coin and others being sold are from inside a cast iron piggy bank i found poking around in an abandoned cabin on the back of mt constitution here on my island.
i just dont want to go through all the things necessary to get a coin pcgs graded, im not a collector. dues, newsletters and coin talk just isnt my thing. if you are a member, please feel free to send it to them. some have emailed me agreeing that it is definitely 1916, others have been skeptical, a few have been less than kind, i dont appreciate that kind of thing. i am not guranteeing anything. i have shown it to to two collectors here on the island where i live, they examined it closely. they both want it. honestly i cant tell if it is a 1917 or a 1916. im just selling what ive been told it is.

Just thought Id share that.
i compared this quarter to another 1916 in equal shape that is pcgs graded good-3, this quarter is just as good and after carefully comparing the relief on the graded one where the six was under heavy magnification, the quality of the coin and remaining indentation is identical to this one: (other than a dent in the torso of lady liberty on the coin i am auctioning.)
ebay item # 320212953435
1916 Liberty Standing Quarter Dollar. PCGS graded About Good-3. Well worn with the date barely visible. A popular key date (PCGS # 5704).
thusly, it is not a 1917.
coin collectors please email me with questions, and for more photos. i will give you heavy magnification photos of the date to compare with other pcgs graded photos of coins in same condition.
im not a coin collector, but am smart enough to do research and know what im looking at, pcgs grading costs around 20.00 usd.
bidding starts at 1.00
have fun and good luck!!

I've been told my chocolate coin covered in gold foil is a 1927-D Saint. Bid with confidence!

If eBay doesn't Nuke the auction - there are ways to notify the bidders that this is not a 1916 SLQ.
I believe anyone can get a message thru the eBay system.
I'd like to see all the bidders retract their bids.

Not to worry. It'll be gone soon enough.

It sounds like the seller really might not have known what he was doing. Guess he will have to figure it out now.
