Just Kidding on the FDC part as this is not from Grandpa's Estate but I did like the "FREAK" typed on the envelope. image

  • That thing is awesome! 64?
  • The terminology used "back in the day" for error coinage was "freak." So this envelope is appropriate and historical.

  • I agree with GoldenEye. Awesome! 64-65.

very neat! and the freak referrence makes me think of the older term F.I.D.O. for errors......what's going on underneath the date where the F for Frasier appears?

nice - you have really nice errors

do you have a link to your whole collection>
  • The FDC got my attention, but I really love that "freakish" Buff. I'm gonna go with high end 64. Very well preserved, too! Was it in the envelope as it is, or wrapped in something?

I did the FDC part due to the envelope. image The coin was picked up a couple years ago from a B&M dealer who I haven't seen prior to that day in 15 years. When I asked if he had any errors he dug deep into his safe in the back of the store. It was in the envelope inside a stapled white carboard holder, and in his safe for over 20 years. I think I liked the envelope at first more then the coin.

Some of the PCGS's coin are viewable in the link below... it's not up to date, and only a small percentage of my errors.

I knew of the term Freak, but Fido was something I first heard about less then a year ago.

That thing is awesome! If you submit it, don't submit the envelope with it. I know of someone who did that. The guy had a hoard of buffaloes in high MS come into his store, each with envelopes stating the month, day, year, and location of where he had got the coins from. Submitted the envelopes along with the coins and the envelopes never came back...

tightbudget, Thanks as I know better not to send anything other then the coin. I'll send it in some time in 2008, not in any hurry.

Here's a pic of the type II Buff from my 20th century type set, as I also took some pics of this today.

    It's a 1918-D 15% Off Center MS65

My first blush was 64 but she may well deserve a higher grade.

    Very cool!
