Anyway, that's quite a score for less than 20 bucks. I'll say AU-53.

Wow... where's this B&M as the cheap box contents haven't been repriced since the 1960's!

i will say au50 net. slight rim bump. looks like slightly impaired luster,
but overall details are AU. good buy for less then 20 considering it is silver.

Better go back and see if there any more cheap coins.

AU50. Too bad about the rim bump. But for twenty bucks, all is forgiven. That's ridiculous cheap. Someone made a mistake.

I asked that guy about 3 times "That Isabella is $18.00 bucks?" I also bought several other random coins and they were priced correctly. This guy is not the owner, but is always in the shop with the owner. He stated that " he is in charge of pricing the items, so he knows it is right." I said "OK, I will take it."

Knowing that it is a great AU coin, do you think I should send it in for grading?

He had a bunch of AU classic comm. Lots of crusty stuff. The others seemed to be priced correctly. This thing jumped right out at me, it was the second coin I looked at.

imageI was just getting ready to tell him that it may be priced incorrectly, then he came out with "he priced it so it is right" comment in kind of a snobbish way, so I decided to purchase the "correctly" priced item!

Well, maybe not quite. You definitely suck if you bought it for $18 and then sold it for $500. It's not quit a full-blown YOU SUCK quite yet, but almost.

Not to call out a lot of people but it seems to be that you ripped this dealer off and should be ostracized for it. I mean if a dealer offered you $20 bucks for the coin there would be a thread on here criticizing them from here until forever. Clearly we all love double standards so lets pat this guy on the back for catching a mistake and lets all go back to the spouse thread where we bash the dealer for offering $350 on the spouse (without knowing the true story).

Greeniejr, bstat1020 asked THREE times what the price was and THREE times was told $18, $18, $18... and the paid FULL ASK.

Ok... and how many times did the person on the spouses ask if the dealer was mistaken before he ran to the boards with it...

Greeniejr, So how do know if bstat1020's B&M dealer didn't pay $6 for it thinking it's just a Circ Columbian? If the Dealer was happy with the $18, I'm sure he made a profit to pay the electric bill that day. As far as the $350 offer on the Spouse coin... well the other forum member should know that B&M's have overhead expenses and then you'd always do better selling bullion direct on Ebay... Right? Secondly dealers at times make a lower offer on something they really don't want... just as they don't want to offend a regular customer.

    OUT THE SHOP

    who and where?

everyone on the boards should know about this dealer
to decide if they ever want to do business with them again

nice coin - I can not determine luster but looks XF or MS to me

should you send it to as TPG for grading? only if you want to sell it
(also can't tell if has old cleaning from photo - so could get bb'd)

Some people on this board will call you immoral for knowingly ripping this dealer. I however say way to go.

Do better on eBay? Hardly. Say the dealer pays the lowest reasonable amount which is 96% of melt. Based on $900 gold thats 432. Retail on it is $460. So lets say John Doe wants to buy one, he can go to the dealer or buy one on eBay for 460. Say you sell the coin for $450 because the person lowers their offer to cover the $10 shipping. For a listing will cost you $2 plus 6-8% for final value fees. Net to the seller is about 420-430 bucks with risk involved. I would say a guaranteed good check is for more money is clearly better then less money with risk. Also, thats assuming the dealer pays on the low end and that you get the optimal value from eBay

dealers are fair game for ripping. it is their business to know what to
sell things for and if they do not know what they have more power
    to you the buyer!

score one for the little guy.

I wouldn't be surprised if the dealer bought this over the counter as part of a group for 8X face.

The only logical answer I could come up with is that someone priced it as a columbian half dollar by mistake!

I do not know anything about the Spouse coin, but after thinking about this Isabella coin, I bet this dealer did buy it over the counter as part of a silver group. He probably just threw them into the box without checking them. The idea that it could have been mistaken for a Columbian Half is possible as well.

Thanks for all the comments, I feel good about the whole thing. I did ask the man three times about the price.
