That seller has probably has already sent to PSA
any card in his inventory that he thinks might have a shot at a bump.
He makes his living selling cards,
so he's not going to leave any money laying on the table. I hate liars.
Sell your cards dealers, that's your job. Just don't piss down our backs and tell us it's raining.
"How about a little fire Scarecrow ?"
Just now they think they have some credibility saying this.

<< <i>I fail to see the difference how this is any different than saying a card should/could be a 9. This guy would be using the same exact spiel regardless. >>
It is no different.
It's still a shady business practice for a full time dealer
to try and take advantage of gullible buyers by suggesting that cards are undergraded.
If they really thought so, they'd resubmit them themselves ...
"How about a little fire Scarecrow ?"
And when we start seeing 8.5's on the Market the hype will be that it should be a 9 or 8.5 +++++++. Does anyone (here) ever even buy into anything those sellers say?
I try to keep the hype to a minumum. If I truly feel a card is hi end for its grade I mention it. I also mention if I feel it is average, too, for that matter. The less plus signs and exclamation points the better. Often times I'll pass on someones offerings simply because I did not like the way they hyped an item. The only time I got burned on a card (bad) is for an auction that looked like this:
QQ---- Should be a 9!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The graders must have been asleep on this one and even more exclamation points. Yep, that was the last time I took any of those nit wits words for anything.

Only he knows if what he said is true. I think this particular card while it may be a candidate for a bump the spread between 8 and 9 may not make it worth doing. Yes I am aware that Groat was the MVP the previous yr. and this is a card 1.
Steve
The few auctions that was watching (PSA 8 stars), they went higher than anticipated. They were nicely centered 8s but they still went higher than previous nicely centered 8s, if that makes sense. I think I'm going wait a bit until I can find 8s that are still centered but won't get a bump due to corners or something.
When I sell my remaining 1957 PSA 8s, I am going to say that these have not been reviewed. That will be a truer statement than saying that they could be 8.5s.
BTW the Giants are keeping up nicely with the Pats so far. (They just won the coin toss)

I should have worded my sentence better. What i meant to say if the spread is not worth it....
I did not know if it was.
I did know it was a card number 1 and what i consider the MVP card.
10x difference? then yes, I would agree it would be beneficial. Howver some dealers will spew this nonsense for cards that it won't make a difference or be worth it to bump.
