The "50 C." is definitely questionable. Fake

    Not even close.
    Compare these 2 birds.

One is a lean mean killing machine, the other...his lazy stay at home brother who hasn't worked an honest day in his lifeimage

I'm not saying its real but couldn't your comparison simply be that one eagle is more worn than the other?

    Yes

I can't tell if it's just wear, but the tips of the eagle's wings appear different.

the Eagles on the reverse of the 07's and 08's have a longer Shoulder if I can use that term than the 09's and beyond.
It is rather flat and wide compared to the smooth curve on the later dates

There have been many fake 07's lately I see about 2 or 3 a week. they are usually mentioned here.

The 1807 and 1808 CBHs are noticeably different than the 1809 and later CBHs. Yes, you could say they are similar...it is sort of like the differences between 1878 through 1904 and 1921 Morgans....basically the same, but noticeable differences.

Take a closer look at the 2 birds.
The first image I posted is the reverse of 1807 and 1808 ONLY, the second reverse is the new design started in 1809. The bird in the OP's image is not an 1807 reverse.

Just as a side-note, the 2 images I posted are both AU58(correctly graded) coins and both in AU58 holders.

Just an overview of the birds design changes on the 1809 version:

    shield is wider
    birds feathers are rounded
birds beak and head have changed
    the wings have changed
no more period after the UNUM on the scroll
    talons and claws are larger
difference in the olive branch and arrow feather/tail and berries

Star 13 position and lack of shoulder dot are other indicators of this specimen being a fake.

FWIW,I tried to report the listing, but ebays system makes it awful hard to wade through their

prompts to get to the right section. At the bottom of the listing page is a link, but it takes you to stamps???

    I don't really think they care anyways.image

This fake 1807 design, from an altered 1809 marriage, has been around so often that I think we can forget about it. Ebay does not seem to care when fakes are offered for sale. Sooner or later, the bidders need to take responsibility for educating themselves before they bid.

I once bid a coin into the tens of thousands. Then I wrote the seller and said I had no intention of paying even if I won because it was fake and he'd do well to remove it. Then I wrote eBay and reported myself for doing that. They said I broke the rules, but (off the record)... I did the right thing. The auction was cancelled by the seller in short order. I'm still waiting for the police to knock on my door.

Known Chinese counterfeit. 100%. This is one of the silver ones with lettered edge. The other "type" is pot metal, light, with no edge lettering. Obverse is from an original 1809 as Mozin stated. Miss Liberty and the Eagle are Sub-Design Type 2 by John Reich and didn't appear until 1809.

I contacted ebay about this one as soon as it was listed. Apparently, ebay feels it is better to make a quick buck, play dumb like they don't know any better, and sell, sell, sell.

These are showing up on ebay on nearly a weekly basis. I'm tired of contacting them about them. I even offered to "TEACH THEM" the difference, supply photo's and more. They'll pay attention again as their number of listings continue to fall, and fall and ...
