Vaccum sealing ASE sets? A good Idea?

I have been reading alot about Milk spotting on the coins, should I vaccum seal the bad boys?

I'm sure it cant hurt huh?....................

A quick dip in E-Z-Est and then a dip in 100% isopropyl alcohol MAY stabilize the surfaces enough to prevent milk spots -- Russ has posted previously that it has worked (so far) on silver proof JFK halves. You may need to rinse in distilled water between the E-Z-Est and alcolhol dips, but perhaps Russ can clarify.

  • I currently have all my raw coins vacuum sealed. Gold, silver, and other coins from the mint all vacuum sealed and no problems as of yet.
  • I have my 20th Anniv. sets (both in PCGS and NGC) vacuum sealed, using the FoodSaver brand. There has been much discussion on NGC coins being immune to the spotting, where it seems to be happening to the PCGS slabbed coins. Having put mine in the vacuum sealed bags (which, has NO PVC in it), neither (PCGS or NGC) has developed any type of spotting whatsoever. I may just start another ASE set, as I had a full set, but that ugly spotting developed and I sold them off. I would (and this is just my opinion) seal any and all ASE's. This is just my 2CW, but I would strongly consider vacuum sealing them.
