Stallone: HGH Use Is 'Nothing'

NEW YORK -- Sylvester Stallone says he used human growth hormone to get buff for the new "Rambo" movie, and defends its use.

"HGH (human growth hormone) is nothing," the 61-year-old actor tells Time magazine in its Feb. 4 issue. "Anyone who calls it a steroid is grossly misinformed."

Because it is nearly indetectable, HGH has become a substance of great concern in major league baseball and other sports battling allegations of rampant doping.

"Testosterone to me is so important for a sense of well-being when you get older," he says. "Everyone over 40 years old would be wise to investigate it because it increases the quality of your life. Mark my words. In 10 years it will be over the counter."

Stallone directed and co-wrote the new "Rambo" sequel, which arrived in theaters Wednesday.

  • yeah, it turned a senior citizen into the incredible hulk lol.
the old guy looks inhuman at this point.
  • Yeah, I seen an interview he done Sunday afternoon on Fox News, and I did not know of this acticle at that time, but I said to myself he must be taking something like HGH or steroids, because he is pretty bulked up right now. Especially, for an older guy. Now, I read this article you posted, and it looks like he confirmed my thoughts.

Either way, I have loved his Rocky and Rambo movies through the years. Quite an entertainer, to say the least.

OK, so what Stallone took HGH? It is his body for goodness sakes. Its not like he is in the Olympics or does professional sports where that stuff is against the rules.

Did anyone say anything about rules? Oh boy....guess I missed that part that you pulled out of the clear blue sky.

We were just talking about the fact that he done it, and if you see him, you can tell a major difference in his body right now. He is pumped up, and that is not really the norm for a guy in his 60's.. Nothing else was implied or meant as a slur. Relax, dude..

    Yup.

No rules against movie stars playing with dangerous drugs.

And, Sly's fix is prolly not as bad a cigarettes and alcohol.

For a long time it wasn't against the rules of Major League Baseball, yet it seems everyone considers the athletes who used it during those years to be cheaters

    including yourself apparently...

just because baseball didnt have a written rule years ago against steroids..IT WAS STILL ILLEGAL IN THE UNITED STATES TO OBTAIN A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE WITHOUT THE PROPER PRECRIPITIONS FROM A DOCTOR....

IS BASEBALL ABOVE THE LAWS OF THE COUNTRY? do you have to have it written in the rules of baseball that you cant kill someone who strikes you out>?? of course not, the laws of the country pertain to sports leagues also, sport leagues do not have to have it written down to be considered illegal...

come on man, USE YOUR COMMON SENSE....

the worst argument in the last 5 years has been "it wasnt illegal to use steroids in baseball until 2004 when they wrote it down in rules"

Common sense tells me that if a player on San Diego took a drive to Mexico twice a week for his supply while another player in St. Louis was using them in the US their employer should still treat them the same

No one in baseball should be above the law, but common sense should tell anyone that they are not law enforcement. No buisness should be obligated to investigate or discipline an employee for crimes committed outside of work

I have worked along side drug users and so long as the work place was drug free the idea that it should be viewed as cheating was absolutely ridiculous to both labor and management. And that idea was based mostly on common sense

For over a century baseball has employed rapists, armed robbers, wife beaters, drunk drivers, and all sorts of criminals with absolutely zero credence to the idea that they were cheating at their job. Yet as soon as they start breaking the law by messing with their hormones, a practice not prohibited by the league for so long, did anyone bring up the idea that crime is exactly the same as cheating

    TomG,

I am trying to understand you. HGH and Steroid use by athletes are considered performance enhancement, especially in the last few years. The powers that be decided to make them illegal. Just because they don't shoot up in the clubhouse (at work) does not mean its OK to shoot up at home in the after hours. Those athletes would still be under the influence of the drug's benefit.
Many athletes did shoot up in the clubhouse and not at home. So, those that shoot up at home are not breaking the recent rules of baseball?

The use of steroids are illegal, but they constitute an unfair advantage in sports--a double take. Other crimes such as stealing or drug dealing do not enhance an athlete's ability, so it is not regarded as cheating on the sport even though those illicit activities are not done on the job. Not everything illegal is cheating on the sport an athlete performs in--its mainly use of HGH, sterioids and other doping techniques.

Maybe I understand you wrong or what you wanted to say was not expressed the best way possible.

  • Did any of you see the new Rambo movie? I saw it over the weekend. It was pretty good, but had a lot of graphic carnage and violence. More graphic than in the 1980s. They even showed children getting executed and tossed into the fire. Pretty twisted stuff.

About 6 months or so ago, Sly allegedly was held in Australia for attempting to board an international flight with a large amount of HGH. Then another Rambo movie comes out. It's only a matter of time before Rocky LXXVI hits the theaters. He will be about 76 when that version comes out.
